Reznor VPT Infrared Heater Help

I have my heaters installed, and they have been working perfectly for the past couple months. Today, I decided to wire both heaters into 1 Thermostat....... Well that proved to be a mistake.

- Issue 1: I didn't turn off the power to the heaters. 2 of the thermostat wires touched, and something happened.....

- Put both heater's thermostat wires to the 1 thermostat. Nothing works now.

- I figured I'd reverse it all and go back to 2 thermostats so I don't loose heat for the night...... well NOW NO HEATERS WORK. I have 120V to the heater, but the power light won't come on.

Do you think I fried the internal Transformer? OR?!?!?!

Heaters are Reznor VPT 125

I looked at the installation manual and I don't see any indication of fusing for the transformer so I suspect the transformer might have shorted and been damaged. If so, you will need a new transformer.

To operate two units from one thermostat I would have the first unit turn on a relay and then wire the contacts from the relay in place of the thermostat for the second unit.

I just borrowed a Multimeter.... Transformer is fried. Time to overnight a couple!

Good, glad you got it solved. Two thermostats is not a bad thing, but if it was me I'd set them up in parallel if they're both in the same building / heating space. In other words if either one calls for heat have it turn both heaters on. It will require some small relays but they are not expensive. Probably a bigger hassle to run the wire between them

Can't really run two transformers on one t-stat.
