Thanks for the nice comments. Wow, it's been over a year since I updated this.

I got a new sign...

I had planned to spend all last winter working on the Land Rover, but my employer had other ideas. I spent most of the winter working in Italy. I got back in March and decided to free up some time and retire. I had planned to spend the summer working on the Land Rover, but then a friend of mine's wife bought a '63 Corvette and he asked if he could use my garage for a month (until he built their new garage) to do some work on it and would I help. Heck yeah, that'll probably be the coolest car I ever work on. That was April, we worked on it almost every day for 5 months and God only knows how many beers...it needed a lot of stuff. Here it is October and it's still here and he doesn't have a garage built yet. He promised me it'll be outta here next week as I pulled the boat out of the water last week and have to get it inside before it freezes.

The last 2 months have been all Land Rover. The frame is done, the suspension is done, the brakes are almost done, and I can see light at the end of the tunnel.

Remember how nice and clean and organized it was in here?

The Ducati is gone and in it's place is a Super Glide and my son's Softail.

Another new old thing is a Craftsman drill press I got from my next door neighbor. I cleaned it up, replace some truly scary internal wiring, and I use it at least once a week. This thing is older than me and it works perfectly.

Parting shot...

Oh wait...one more...the booze cabinet is way better now.

Update:

Okay, it's official...I need a bigger garage or, I may need less stuff. It's especially crowded in the winter when I have to put the boat & jet ski inside. Last night was the first freeze.

My plan is to back the Land Rover sideways in front of the 911 and park the Mustang in that spot. The table is full of two Land Rover gearboxes in pieces. I'm trying to get enough good parts out of two marginal gearboxes to make one good one.

You'll love all that space, but it fills up quickly.

I went from 500 square feet to 1500 sf to now 3000 sf.

But I still need to finish some projects to get enough room.

Update:

I finally got tired of cigars and scotch while sitting in uncomfortable folding chairs in the driveway. These leather chairs have just been sitting unused and gathering spiders, so...

The garage is now home to the very exclusive Mobile Adventurers Club. This is Rev.1. Rev.2 will include larger pnuematic wheels and be powered by an electric motor.

Love it Rich! Electric power you say? How about the drivetrain from a Tesla Model S P85D?

Brooke, being as you're a member of the church of too much is never enough, I know that makes perfect sense to you. I, however, prefer to operate in have fun, don't die mode...got an electric trailer caddy, with brake, on order.

After all, is there really any hurry to get from my garage to the beach? I might spill my scotch...

Update: Ever come to a point where you look around and think, "Jeez, I've got a lot of ****."? Last week I got there. Seven days and four pickup loads of stuff later, I have way less ****. I got rid of most of the wall art, all the metal signs that people love to give you as gifts, and a ton of useless stuff I've accumulated in the past seven years. The result is a much cleaner, more useful garage, which was the whole point to begin with.

I can actually see the floor again...

More floor!

I can see the wall and the work bench too.

More wall...

And in case anybody's interested, the Land Rover is done-ish. Gotta replace the "new" master cylinder and probably pull the ****** at some point to replace the output seal.

One last decluttering thing is to get the 3 motorcycles that aren't mine out of here...friends, can't live without 'em, can't kill 'em.

UPDATE: Let there be light. Found a guy on CL selling 8" commercial fluorescent fixtures with T8 bulbs and covers for $10 apiece. Best $100 garage investment to date, I mean, this changes everything.

Out go the cool looking, but ultimately useless barn lights...live and learn.

6 hard wired fixtures replaced all the barn lights.

And 3 more converted to plug-in on the bottom of center beam. I am lit up!

I ended up using 9 of the 10 lights I bought. One got parted out to replace an assortment of broken sockets, covers, and bad bulbs. I'm going to get 3 more to do the high bay and change those out as soon as I figure out how to get up to the 14' ceiling without scaffolding or dying...maybe a big ladder in the pickup bed?
