Ridge vent and baffles

I'm getting ready to begin installing baffles from the soffit to the ridge vent in my garage attic so I can then begin insulating. I noticed my ridge vent oesnt go all the way across the peak. It stops about 3' from each end. Should I still install baffling in that section from soffit to peak?

you don't need to baffle to the peak, just higher than the insulation is.
yes, I would baffle each truss/rafter bay

I will be insulating all the way to the peak. I use the garage attic as storage and have a full size staircase going up there.

you could tie the unvented bays (get creative )into the vented bays so there is air circulation .

Are you looking to heat the attic?

Yes upstairs and downstairs will be heated. There's a full size stair case that goes up to the attic so I don't have anything to stop the heat from going up there anyway.

If there is no way for the heat to escape from those bays you will have trouble. Each truss bay needs adequate venting. Therefore yes, I would recommend to put the baffles in the "unvented bays" and then figure out some way to connect them in the peak so that they are vented.
