I’ve been busy sanding and painting the cabinets. While sanding I found a sticker on the inside of one of the drawers. Turns out they was lab cabinets from oak ridge .

Got a little garage time this evening. Leveled all the cabinets and tied them together with sheet metal screws. And I had some old doors from a house we tore down on a job . I’m using those to make a top until I can resource some better materials .

Great job on the Garage!
And those cabinets never looked so good.

Your countertop reminded me of my first house.
I replaced some doors for a friend and the old doors ended up being shelves in my new shed.

Got a couple hours of garage time this evening. Finished up the cabinets. Put all the pulls on and drawers in place. And also got time to paint the top. I gotta get some lighting...couldn’t see for **** when painting. Got them ordered but the electrical supply store here has come up empty two weeks in a row . Might order on line.

I got a good deal (FREE) , on some restaurant table tops . They are pretty solid. They are

way better than the hollow core interior doors that I have now for cabinet tops . I might beef them up a little. Also scored a nice floor mat free as well. Now if I could get my lights I’ve had ordered for four weeks. The electrical supply house here apparently doesn’t want my business.

I used those trusses with the intentions of installing a two post lift in the future. But even if I never do I still like the head room .

Looks awesome!!!
Keep up the great work!!!
The scissors trusses give a lot more room. Looks like a great decision.

What type of concrete and how thick did you go?

I too just read this thread.

The metal on walls and ceiling look very nice. I like the brick work, no maintenance... Very nice job overall ridgecrawler

Is it an optical illusion that I see in post #40? It looks like at the 8ft level the brick work looks like it changed, but in the later pictures I see no difference.

Casmurbax thanks . As for the brick in post #40 the difference your seeing is where they layed brick on the bottom of the wall the day before . The mortar dried and is a lighter color than what they layed that day was still wet and darker.

solid now. So now I have a place for my drill press to set . So the ole delta Milwaukee has found a home. And the boxes at the end are the first project that’s going to be done in the garage. Lift kit for the ole Chevy .

Those aren't just any cabinets from ORNL, those belonged to Dr Ed Kennedy. He was also an Electrical Engineering Professor at the University of Tennessee for many many years. He was known to be a real tough professor (I actually liked him) and wrote the book on Op Amps that was used world wide and is still on my bookshelf today. Great job re-purposing those cabinets and your whole shop looks great.

That’s a cool bit of info . Him being a electrical engineer and all the little resistors in the drawers and solder bits stuck to the face of the drawers makes sense. Thanks for sharing that with me. And thanks for the compliments

Thank you for the compliments. It’s taken me for ever to get this project to this stage. Still got a long way to go to get it where I want it .

This is a crying out shame of a mess. Its all mine though. My attached 2 car garage is where I have had my shop since I built the house about 14 years ago. Ever since the other shop project started this one has been neglected a landing space for any and everything. So the plan is to move the stuff to the new shop . As I’m going through everything keep the good stuff get rid of the rest. And finally finish the two car attached so the wife can park her car in there. Wish me luck I’m gonna need it.

That is very very cool. We had that book in my Op amps class at Purdue in EE.

Great shop buildup!
