I bought a 1/2 hp pedestal Rigid sump pump about 2.5 years ago. Well sometime in the last few days it froze up, and threw the breaker. I tried a few different things to unfreeze it, but nothing would budge it.
The reason i bought it in the first place was that it had a lifetime warranty, no questions asked. I took it back to Home Depot today and found the plumbing guy, told him what was going on and asked him how does this work? He said just grab the same model, and take your old one to the return desk and let them know your lifetime warranty pump died and that you are getting a replacement.
As i start to turn around he tells me that they new longer offer a lifetime warranty on there pumps, instead its 3 years.
Being that i paid a 50% premium for that lifetime warranty i was kind of upset, but decided to play it cool and swap it out. I have an email into Rigid describing the situation and letting them know im unhappy about it. I asked for them to let me know what they can do to help me out.
For anyone who cares, ill post the email response when it comes back (if it comes back).
