Hello , Still haven't got around to posting up my garage build ... lots of photo's ... But I will post some pics of my new floor for you . I signed up to be guinea pig for Rocksolids new product PC96 , initially I thought it was going to be Tan... but I was O.K. w/that because Tan would have looked good in my shop and I wanted a light colored floor to brighten up the space. When I got my confirmation that I was accepted the e-mail had several color choices and one of them was called "copper pot" well , even though it was darker than I wanted I went with it because my metal roof color is "copper penny" I received my kits (11):eyecrazy: This material only covers 125 sq. ft per kit. After cleaning the saws and junk out of my still under construction shop and several days of cleaning/ etching and such ... TaDaaaa!:rocker:

Looks great. Did you have to do anything special to get that pattern or does it just come out like that?

Was apprehensive about that when I got the kits...you have to swirl the roller around after initially spreading the product.

wow...that looks really nice! How did you get on their guinea pig list? I like the color and the depth of it. How was the application process? did you do it all yourself? Time consuming?

Regardless, looks very nice. Can't wait to see the rest of the build! :rocker:

I like the look on someone elses floor, but I think I would grow tired of it soon. It reminds me of Spectra Tape or Prism Tape on a car. It was used in the 70's and 80's with pin striping. It was cool at first when used in moderation, but soon after it entered the marketplace, people were using it everywhere until everyone was sick of it.

Still think it looks great. I was tossing around the idea of going this route and swirling things around but decided to go with a more fool proof method of dispersing the metallics. You are a master swirler.

Looks fantastic, I opted in for the same color, your looks absolutely awesome, I didnt get as beautiful of result as you did though. Ultimately though, I am very pleased.

my68spit... I got on the list here http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=213380&highlight=rocksolid Application went really smooth , The kits come in burst pouches, squeeze the bag till the inner seal bursts releasing the two parts to mix together, shake for 1 minute , cut the corner of the bag off and pour in bucket... open can of color and dump in bucket and stir for 1 minute w/a drill/mixing paddle . I poured it out across the end of the shop and rolled out a 5' x 24' area .once the stuff was smeared out I went back using random swirls . I overlapped each area a bit to try to get maximum thickness so it would flow out and not leave obvious roller marks ( This by far is the hardest part , not physically just mentally trying not to screw up) I had a friend help and it took 3 hrs 30 mins start to finish.
neuropac... It is what Rocksolid is calling "polycuramine" although I think that is a trade name for the polyurea formulation they use... supposed to be tough stuff...similar to truck bed liners .Cures fast... I'm using the floor the next day although I haven't pulled my hot rods in yet .No clear coat and I don't see the need for one...basically this seems to be a clear with suspended metallic flakes in it.
porschedude996TT ... yeah I could see this not being for everyone there is a lot to be said for a solid color floor especially in a light color , I do intend to work the hell out of this floor and although the shop looks large the floor is destined to get covered pretty soon as I have benches tools , a lift and several project cars coming into the shop. And yeah I remember the prism tape too... just never met anyone who put it on a car... must have been a Porche thing:evil:
workhurts... Thanks , I saw another company who sells a metallic epoxy floor ...it's laid out in two layers and the top layer gets some sort of chemical dripped on it to give it cool effects... I think Rocksolid may want to look into a similar approach ... but again I'm happy with the way mine came out but the manipulation of the roller may turn some people off...I never had much luck with "Faux finishes" in the past.
jwdominick ... I'd love to see a pic ...mines not perfect either , had some lint issues with the rollers and I think every bug in a 10 mile radius of my shop landed in it... It's like those prehistoric mosquitos in amber ... Archeologists in the future will be able to clone me and my neighbors from the DNA like in Jurassic Park.

Floor looks great! It's not the same or even similar to truck bedliners and it's not as tough as them either.
