I am not a fan of tool boxes, I like to be able to see my tools so I can make sure everything is put away and also for the simplicity of grabbing them quickly. I have my tools mounted on my wall right now, but
I am going to build a rolling work bench with a wall in the back so I can roll all of my tools to the car I am working on and they are easily within reach.

Here is the beginning. The cabinet is one of my 1956 metal cabinets that was left over from my stationary workbench build. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=279327

Under is cool, but don't you get tired of bending over to look inside the cabinets below? Might be more ergonomic to put them somewhere on top. You could make the tool wall mobile by making a "backplane" above the castered bench.

The cabinet is under there just to take advantage of the space. The tool wall will be on the back of the bench and come up about 3ft.

Your going to want bigger casters.

Those are fine for the load of the table - but once you start adding weight (tools) you will need at least a 2 1/2 - 3"wheel

I was about to trash this bench and a buddy said keep it and put on some wheels. I had these casters for another project, you are right I will probably need to go bigger when there is more weight on it.

Yeah, you'll need bigger wheels.

Also, we did the same thing with a nice old workbench and one feature we put on it that really works great is putting outlets around it. We put quad receptacles around it and piped to each one and then put a nice heavy duty extension cord coming of one to plug in.
Works so well I figured I would share.

Did a little more today and mocked up my tools. Fully loaded the small wheels do fine. I want a little resistance when rolling so it will stay put while I am using it. Seems to be just about right. Will be painting and doing some trim work.
