Wow, that's crazy. And people saying your email was worded poorly are smokin' it because that's not that point AT ALL.

Exactly.

There is absolutely no defense of anything. Even if the OP had sent them a profanity-laced email impugning their mother, a BUSINESS does NOT respond like that, period.

Maybe we can get that company to register on GJ and then come here begging for forgiveness for their rude behavior....

We would then agree to give forgiveness for said bad behavior for deeply discounted tools sold to GJ members along with free shipping....:lol_hitti

I have read worse replies from every ones favorite seller Cripe Dist.
Their ebay feedback responses alone show how much of a douche they are

As some of you might know, i've been selling off all my dewalt tools and re-tooling with the new milwaukee fuel line up. So yesterday i loaded up my cart at JCC ( Jean-Claude Cayer tools) to the tune of just shy of 1000 bucks. One of the items was the new milwaukee fuel grinder. On their website the date of arrivle is 10 01 13. Yesterday was the 3rd, so i though i would shoot them a quick email to see if they were in stock and ready to ship out and put all in one order. Here is my email to them....

E-mail subject (milwaukee 2781-20)

Hi there. This new fuel grinder in stock and ready to ship now?
Thanks
~Jon

Their response:
Hi,

The 2781-20 is Pre-Order item, instead of asking a question, you can go to our website and look for yourself. Your email seemed sarcastic to say the least.

Thank You,

Sylvain Cayer
Internet Sales and Marketing Manager

Thank god I did not spend my money with these A-holes! Obviously this is the owners kid That may be debatable ....or something, as i do not think the owner who worked hard to build the company would insult customers like this. Not sure how I should respond. I think the owner should know his son is costing him money.

What do you guys think?

Anyways, i'm going to go load my cart at CPOmilwaukee and drop my G-note with a respectful tool company.

I think he is a Jack leg and as for a 1k order I 'd look elsewhere, reply in that email be saying.

Ya want to hear sarcastic ? How about this, I'm going to go load my cart at CPOmilwaukee and drop my G-note with a respectful tool company.

close it, a happy customer going elsewhere because of YOUR attitude.

BTW no response necessary or I will publish it, be warned.
Best regards,
add you name here ....LOL you knew that already

No reason to take **** from some lame retailer. If they tell you they are sorry. Let them know you already know, how pathetic these people are that want you to feed them.

Not one thing you asked was out of line and just required a simple yes or no and a minor explanation for the no. I would have so much fun with some jerk like this.

What's strange is the OP really does know how to write judging by his post in this thread, but the wording in his question to Jean-Claude Cayer is like it was written by someone else.

I agree that the manager was totally out of line, but wording is everything when it comes to emails. There's no way of sensing tone and I've learned this the hard way myself.

There was nothing wrong with his initial wording. He simply left out the verb "is" at the beginning of his question. The "is" is kinda of implied in simple and short sentences that ask a question.

"Is the Snap-On 30 piece impact set in stock?"

"The Snap-On 30 piece impact set in stock?"

Dude, maybe with colleagues, coworkers, friends, peers. But when a customer approaches a retailer to ask if a product is ready for shipment, the customer should not have to worry about sarcasm - - or any other undertone - - and the company should not be looking for it either. Just respond to the customer and go about your day.

I don't like to generalize, but this would not be surprising from a Quebecer. They are not all like this, but if someone in Canada is going to be rude, you can count on it being a Quebecer.

Lorddiesel, you are in Victoria? Why not order from the US?

Just a thought.

Let's not get all dramatic with the umbrage taking.

If someone says people from Quebec are rude, why get bent out of shape about it just because you are also from there?

People say Americans are fat, lazy and stupid and I don't take offense because I know they aren't talking about me.

French names ... rudeness ... nah, couldn't be ... :dunno:

This. As much as I hate to defend the actions of French-Canadians it might just be a language thing. I used to swap trailers at Champlain NY with drivers from Quebec. They are either all dbags or the snooty French language just makes them seem that way.

Ha Sylvain Cayer, I knew I'd heard that name before.

Here's a youtube video I found of him in action. Note that this did *not* happen in his current position at "Jean-Claude Cayer tools". This clip is from his former occupation as a castle guard. :D:D

A rude Quebecor? That would be a first :p

Yeah, I've never had that experience; over, and over, and over again... :lol_hitti. It is so out of character to hear something like this. That being said, some of my best friends are French Canadien. I agree with Bull, some of you northern cousins need to lighten up a bit.

And this thread proves another point, too. Retailers beware, here at GJ, you mess with one of us, you mess with the whole damn trailer park!! :p

I agree with you in principle but need to somewhat correct your degree of magnitude. In a little over 12 hours this thread has in excess of 2000 views!! Thus suggesting that this terrible example of customer service has been seen by a large group of individuals that are both passionate and fiscally irresponsible when it comes to purchasing tools. Probably not the group that I would want to piss off if I was a tool retailer. Where I disagree is that Lord Diesel much like so many of us probably visits at least 2-3 other websites (daily) with a demographic that are equally crazy about tools and will at some time communicate his experience with JC Cayer. Moreover, each of us who have read this thread will also share it with our networks and websites. So yes you are right retailers beware but it ain't just one trailer park that you're messin with, it's all of them!!!!

As a cardboard box dweller, I find this comment offensive. We don't all live in trailer parks.

I think the OP's original e-mail was poorly written IMO but in no way justified that kind of response. Really even if the OP's e-mail was rude and sarcastic, a "Internet Sales and Marketing Manager" worth a damn would know you never talk to a customer like that, especially not on the Internet.

My Cayer is clearly not cut out for Sales\Marketing\Customer Service type work.

I work in customer service, and come across rude customers every day. I never tell them they are acting poorly, or if they are wrong, or stupid, or rude. I just stand there and listen, and perform my job professionally. If that customer is actually disgruntled, then if i am rude to him, he is obviously going to make a big deal and tell other potential customers about his "poor experience".

The customer IS always right.

I think Lorddiesel's email was perfectly fine. I would not have looked twice at it. God forbid someone has "bad grammer", forgets an "is", or puts a question mark where it shouldnt be. You guys that are criticizing his email need to realize that we are all human, and a so called 'customer service manager' should know that not all humans have 100% perfect grammer.

I want to know how he responds to an email that is actually rude and sarcastic.

I honestly wonder if the email chain has been changed or truncated...there's always two sides of the story and I kind of have my doubts as JC Cayer is quite reputable in eastern canada.

I see you're from BC. Ever deal with KMS? I'm on the East Coast and have been dealing with them for a number of years, and they are BC based.

Yes guys. I know my grammar is ******, but i try my best and i do make mistakes. It was also the last email i sent out before bed. I was tired and probably missed something. I still do not deserve a response like that from any retailer.

As i said a few posts back, i'm sure the owner wouldn't have been so rude. It ***** that the family member who replied was.

I did some local shopping today. This sale + more would have gone to JCC if it wasn't for that email.

Its bad enough when people are rude to you, but its worse when you pay them to do it by trading with them! I would happily pay more to go elsewhere than pay that guys wages.

Google tunes search results to you, including bumping up pages you've been to in the search results. ;) I'm betting Joe Blow won't see this in the first few pages with the same search... which I find to be a bit of a bummer.

My first response would be a very polite reply... not an apology, but a reply... with whoever his boss is (I'm assuming a senior Mr. Cayer) as a BCC to said reply. You know, just to make sure he's in the loop. Wait, that means he can see previous correspondence? Oops!

Guys. I'm not holding my breath for anyone in the company to make it "right". I was looking on ebay for some bare bones tools and came across some JCC listings. I thought i would take a look at his ratings. I'm not the first, and i won't be the last. I saw this comment and had a little laugh to myself.
