Anybody else use this stuff ? It's a gloss latex paint. I bought a can to paint a stripe on the garage wall, breaking the white and gray. I tried painting a short section between the doors. I put on three coats, after the third coat, I pulled the masking tape off. It pulled every bit of the Rustoleum paint right off.
This was painted right on top the oil based Kilz primer. The Kilz states it can be top coated with oil or latex paint. I read the directions on the Rustoleum can, it says to sand glossy paint. The Kilz is not glossy but I tried sanding it anyways.
After sanding, I put three more coats on it, waiting 2 hours between coats. This is in the garage where the humidity is low and the temp is 70-75 degrees. ( I wanted the paint to cure easily). Again after the thir coat, I pulled the masking tape off. It has again started to peel the Rustoleum paint.
Now, I'm going to have to sand the Rustoleum off and reprime the wall with Kilz. If I don't sand it off, I'm afraid it will just peel completely off at a later date.

Anybody ?

you have to pull the tape when its still wet. latex bonds well to the tape and then you get results like yours. i learned the hard way too

I did pull it when it was wet on the third coat. I guess I'd have to remask it after every coat. That'll be a pain trying to paint stripes along the garage walls.

I used gloss black to paint some shelves and whatnot but only masked one or two small areas. I recall the tape pulling up what it was stuck to a little but not the rustoleum paint. As far as coverage goes (especially gloss black) I was quite impressed with the product. we'll see how long it lasts, though.

It's taking 3 coats of navy blue just to cover the white.
