I use my Ryobi 18volt tools a lot, for a variety of things, haven’t had any problems with them and they work well for my DIY, homeowner and various shop usages. In my acquisition of used Ryobi tools I have obtained a number of the older black & yellow (NiCad) batteries. As has been mentioned here before they don’t hold their charge nearly as long as the green (Li) ones do and a couple won’t take a charge at all. I do try to rotate and use all of the batteries equally. I only have 2 of the light green and would like to just get a few more of them. I know I can rebuild the older ones but really don’t like the quick to discharge while unused aspect of them.
I have no issue with good used batteries since it will save me some cash. So I checked eBay recently and saw a lot of P102s, the smaller green (Li) battery, and few of the bigger ones.
Besides less capacity is there something about the P102s batteries that I should watch out for? My smaller Li battery works fine just not for as long as the bigger one.
FWIW, I did a search here for “P102 problem” (and similar terms) and haven’t found anything specifically wrong with them.
Thank you
