Ryobi Lithium Battery Test

I searched “Ryobi lithium battery test” here and didn’t find what I’m looking for. Is there a quantitative test for 18 volt lithium batteries, Ryobi in my case, which tells what the post charge condition of the battery is? :headscrat Preferably something I can do on a simple multi-meter.

I recently picked up a used battery, P103, and it stalls when using it on a reciprocating saw (older dark blue model). Another used P103 battery I have will work for hours on the same saw and on the same materials. Today I was cutting a 3 inch or so Manzanita branch and half way through that battery stalled. I pull the blade away and there is still power and when I try cutting again it will stall. Changed to the other battery and it cut through the branch like butter.

Same thing happens with an older sander and drill I have. I’ve charged all my batteries on 2 different newer (light green) Ryobi chargers and no difference.

I would like to show the seller the difference before I claim the battery does not “function as intended”.

Thank you.

maybe you can use this aVe guy's method.... dunno how else to test capacity... I think the charger just measures the voltage..... Most likely you are dealing with an unscrupulous seller.... knowing the condition of the battery not holding a charge. Good luck.

It looks like your battery is not holding a full charge, I find my older small capacity batteries stall when not fully charged when they are being used in a tool that needs lots of power' like a saw or a grinder.
Here is a link to a site with more information on different types of 18v batteries
