Sandblasting, which compressor ?

I'm needing an air compressor, something will deliver at least 10-11 CFM @ 90 psi.

I will be doing basic sandblasting of small parts, nothing large scale, nothing on a daily or weekly basis, just as the need arises to clean up surface rust or maybe bead blast something before plating it.

I don't have a lot of room to work with, floor/permanent mount isn't an option as I will need this to be portable.

I prefer electric, and can add a breaker to the shop (single phase power) if necessary.

I much prefer a 'real' compressor over the light duty, oil less or pancake types. Something that has parts (reasonably) available from a standard compressor shop if repair is needed.

I'm hoping someone here can recommend a unit with a ~15-20 lb tank on wheels that can churn out enough steady cfm to handle pushing a small sand blaster.

What are you guys using ? Any you can recommend ?

Look for a sanborne, one popped up locally that did 17 cfm with a 30 gal horizontal tank on wheels for $300, was up for awhile, I could slap myself for not picking it up.

I'm a little confused on the need for portability. Are you going to store it in the house when not using it?
I am stuck on this point because portable and 10 CFM @ 90 PSI don't really go together very well.

I will store it in the shop when not using it.

The portable need is to be able to take it to the farm where much of sandblasting the work will be done from time to time.

When not in use at the farm, I plan to run air tools with it for hobby stuff.

Plus, I don't have the room to mount a free standing vertical in my home shop. I will have to stow it when not it use and roll it out when I need it.

Not an ideal situation, I know, but it is what I'm working with

There are 10 CFM portable electric units, but they're 230V. IR SS3J3 is one example.

Given the lack of tank reserve on these types of units, I wouldn't want one for home use; it's going to run a lot.

You're not going to find a 120V portable unit that will produce 10CFM @ 90PSI.

Here's the models I'm strongly considering

Two people I know have compressors from Eaton and swear by them after a couple of years of running air sanders and misc auto paint related stuff.

Only thing I'm trying to deal with is the freight, but, I will pay it unless I see a better option out there.

I don't have any first hand knowledge of Eaton compressors, but reviews I've found around the various boards pretty much give Eaton high marks all the way around.

Any of you happen to know of/about Eaton compressors first hand ?

If I was in your situation, I'd be assembling one.

with a 5hp 240 volt motor. The tank will be small, but you'll need the volume. You could always have a larger tank in the barn and plug that assembled high volume unit into the bigger tank for when you are blasting.

Edit: You posted that Eaton while I was typing, it's virtually the exact same thing I was proposing. I think you'd be good with that Eaton.

I bought an older craftsman compressor that was a 220 w/ 5hp motor that will do 10cfm @ 90psi. It also had a 30 gal tank.
