Can you setup a remote/probe for the wood and put that next to this display? The interior humidity (top) has been running 15-30% lower than the exterior humidity.
Once I loaded it, the interior has jumped up considerably.
This load has been stacked outside for a few months under cover, but it has a long way to go.
Good thing the weather is headed in the right direction.
The set up is low-buck and elementary. Can you setup a remote/probe for the wood and put that next to this display?
Better yet, to WiFi enabled and link to this thread !
I was serious about having a permanent probe for the wood, but joking about linking it here. That setup looks pretty slick. The set up is low-buck and elementary.
As i research and pay the bigger bucks, I’ll go with a Bluetooth /data recording app so I can track/print out the progress. I also intend to purchase the Wagner Orion moisture meter.
It also is BT, and you can print out a status report for customers.

Tie the log to an anchor point, then drive away. This may be a dumb question but how do you get the log off when you get home?
If he's using Microsoft, he just has to hit the "Log Off" button. This may be a dumb question but how do you get the log off when you get home?

Thanks for sharing!Someone in the family owns a "large" sawmill.
They use a crane truck, then lower individual logs to a very large skid steer.
When we've hired "portable" mills, we've moved logs with a Kubota tractor and forklift forks.
Here's the mill.
For mere mortal woodworkers, they sell slices of these logs for others to finish... Which would make a lot more financial sense to most of us without this type of equipment (myself included).

This is a finished piece that I did with help from this sawmill. With "help" I mean, I did the dimensional drawings for the space/fixtures, and got my *** out to their shop and followed directions. I envy you guys with "wood skills" - definitely not my cup of tea. The "bowl" and faucet are things that are available over the internet.

Yes! Rocks and sand kill blades as fast as metal does.Beautiful! Pressure washing the nasty off has to really help with blade life,.
Madrone warps? Who would have known?Spent an hour cutting a sled to flatten a Madrone slab for a client.
Shim and secure the warped slab to….
My last “slab” of Madrone turned into 2X lathe stock.Madrone warps? Who would have known?
Years ago we bought a slabbed log of madrone to attempt to dry it ourselves. He warned us. One small log, weighed down with cinder blocks, should work fine, right? Within two months of air drying, it had tossed off all the cinder blocks . Still trying to find projects for small bits of madrone, like saw handles. Beautiful stuff, but what a pain.
