I cut the small end of the log off because I thought it looked to far gone.

I went and pulled it off the beach today, and started cutting it up.

I’m thinking it’s awesome!

Finishing up the Cedar for the channel wood wall behind the master claw foot tub.

Soaked with Daly’s Ship and Shore penetrating sealer, and ready for the TotalBoat clear satin varnish.

Pleasantly surprised at the noise level with the machine cutting and the dust collector going.

Never heard of the River Hewn brand, but have a Grizzly just like that and it's hearing protection required, almost need double ear pro.

I always have ear protection in the shop.
4 pairs hanging off the noisy tools.

But, at under 80 dB. I’m pretty happy with it.
Wider, harder material will be louder.

Didn’t get much shop/mill time this weekend.

But did cut up a 4 foot chunk of the stinky clam wood.

Because life isn’t jumbled up enough around here, I decided to have my septic tank replaced.

Need to relocate 4 boats and two trucks. But first I needed to move a stinky log out of the driveway.

Fun with chains & cables, ropes & straps, blocks & shackles, winches & an old back.

Sometimes my plan feels too much like work.

Ripped a bunch of stickers, still have all my digits🙄

Couldn't you stack boards vertical on the mill (like this IIIII) and then cut stickers from that stack?
Yes. Standard practice when you have waste you’re cutting off dimensional lumber.

Not so much when you’re ripping slabs.

You guys have woodwork passion and this is such an enjoyable thread.

However, it is no longer PC correct to call them defects. Character or beauty marks are more appropriate, LOL.
I’ll try to be more PC in the future.😀

Not many defects but a small river table courtesy of the emerald ash borer and a few more things. Thanks for the comments. We have a lot of wood cut but it won’t be ready until next summer. Getting the sawmill has been a lot of fun and gives me something to do now that I’m retired
