Dewalt sawzall blades are junk too.I have used the Dewalt 18 tpi metal blades which dull easily.I was replacing them right away after making a cut, went dull right away. Also new technology too,Milwaukee has some that are cold formed. There is a double sided sawzall blade out there with cutting teeth on each side,$6.00 a piece.

I have had good luck with the Morse brand from Menards. $48 something for the 50 pack. USA made also.

Lenox still makes blades in the us.

Both UK made...

I find it funny that Monte, a guy from germany, and has every tool known to mankind is referring people to Harbor freight.
I love you though Monte, you are awesome and contribute to this site in a huge way.
Anyway, there is no such thing as a cheap descent sawzall blade.

The Morse and Lenox blades pictured from the UK are both grit blades. They likely came from the same factory over there. There are not many facilities in the world you can make blades like that.

I've never really been too concerned with the cost of sawzall blades... as long as you select a decent brand and use it for its intended purpose they seem to last a good while. I do tend to use them till the teeth are rounded or falling off though :)

Seriously though check ebay and buy them in bulk if you are running through them too fast. You should be able to buy like 50 quality blades for like $50 or less... not bad if you ask me.

Carbide grit do usually cost quite a bit more though...

Milwaukee blades work great for me, but they are expensive. Thought about trying some HF or others but haven't so far. Use HF cut off wheels quite often, work pretty well and the price is right.

The most badass one I ever used was a Lenox bi-metal gold or something like that. It was a free promo I got in the mail. That one blade outlasted 6 Milwaukee blades. I cut and entire car IN HALF with that blade after I had already used it many many times prior. It cut like butta too. Unfortunately I have not found any place where I could buy them. :(

Yes, the carbide (and diamond) grit Lenox blades are made in the UK. The "normal" ones are US made.

UK (particularly England) still has a lot of high end blade manufacturing, from what I understand. Including under the Bahco brand.

What's a grit blade. I haven't heard that term. I guess I should google it:)

Buncha' fancy German blades and one USA made Irwin?

That´s what google image search offered :) (in german) Lenox, Dewalt etc. were also already mentioned.

btw: the orange Bahco blade is made in sweden, the Bosch + Garant ones "swiss made" and the light blue one from france :)
So a good mix i think :) (made in UK was also already mentioned :) )

Irony. . .

:D

btw: iirc the Dewalt accessories catalog states that the Dewalt recipro blades are made in a factory in Florida.

Try the Skill ones at wally world they are kinda cheap but Swiss and work quite well.

The Skill blades cut decent at best, but the very first time the tip of the blade hits somthing, you are trying to cut with a snake instead of a blade. They bend terribly.

I went quest to find anything better than the Skill blades and ran across Milwaukee's "The Torch" blades and will never use anything else. These things are a little expensive for the pack of 5 but man they are great. I still have the first one out of the pack still in the sawzall and even after MANY cutting jobs, it cuts like new.
Its amazing how they dont bend AT ALL after the tip contacts somthing while in use.

Lowe's now carry's a decent selection of Lenox blades. The Gold versions might only be available through contractor supply channels, as the price point puts it out of reach for most DIY'ers.

If it's not obvious, I'm a former employee.

IIRC, I've seen Swiss-made Vermont American and Black & Decker blades sold at my local liquidation store. There was plenty of US/Swiss-made assortment packages offered by Lenox and Dewalt as well.
