I got the one for my attached at garagedoorscreens.com.

It has a zipper on each side. I put a piece of PVC pipe in the pocket at the bottom. I also put screw eyes on either side at the top to allow small bungees to hold it in place.

Ive never done it myself as my large door rarely opens due to a busy street and people always gawking. But there are some threads on here of screens that roll up when not in use and then drop down. Some are silk screened with murals on the outside to look like your garage door is closed etc. Maybe do a search as its been awhile since Ive seen the threads.

I've had one in use for 6 years with no problems. It was manufactured by "Kitty-Mac" and was available at Lowe's by special order. Zippers on the sides allow it to be rolled up and secured at the top with straps/buckles, also the entire screen assembly is attached to the door opening with velcro so that it can be removed completely for storage (I've never removed it, as I leave it up year round and just roll it up during the winter). The weather has not had any effect on it!

Tech Guy - I have that concern too. I bought 2 black fine mesh screens at Princess Auto that are designed for, among other things, covering up pick up truck beds. I hang them from my double door when it is open and it does a fairly good job of screening what is going on in my garage during daylight hours. Although you can see in to a depth of about 3 or 4 feet, it generally appears as a big "black hole" to people driving or even walking by. After sunset, you can see into the garage but it still offers some privacy. The screen has been a big help in regard to ventilation.

I've used a cheap one for years and love it. I couldn't have DIY'd it myself for this cost. Shoot, at this price, buy two. The only thing is, after three/four years now, the bottom nylon where the poles go to hold it down, have worn holes through (3 kids and a wife going through it constantly). A bit of duct tape and it's good as new.

Great idea PC. My street is so busy that its not worth keeping the door open but I do suffer from the lack of venitlation. I may go have a look at Princess Auto maybe next week. During the night it would be closed anyways with the lights on but daytime would be a blessing. Got a pic by any chance ?

When you have a street view problem, open the door up one foot. Air circulates and no one has a line of sight view. That's more than any average window can do. I'm sure a screen on the outside of the door would allow for that.

Thats what I do now. Just prop a 2x4 under the door and you get great circulation. But at least with screens I could look outside. Bugs were the issue I was thinking about but PC answered that one.

I have two 10'x12' glass overhead doors that open into my great room. I want to put a screen on one. I won't need to open the screen often but the roll up one would require a ladder. I had a roll up type at my old place, i really liked it, although the Velcro was not strong enough so I just stapled the Velcro together.
Has anyone used the curtain type? If so, how do they compare.
