dealnews.com has again posted a fresh link to the coupon.
I have a hard time beliving that this coupon is not real based on what I have seen. I think the issue is that sears has poor comunication with the stores and some of the managers are ***-holes playing cowboy and doing what they feel like

the additude of some of the stores has changed this coupon from a crown to a black eye on sears as far as I am concerned

HEAR HEAR...I'm with Bob...I finally gave up in my correspondance with all the Customer Relations idiots that stemmed from my initial email complaint of not being allowed to use the coupon. Emails containing totally off the shelf phrases that I got sick of hearing again and again, each time from a different individual. My blood pressure couldn't stand it. I too believe the coupon is legit and that someone calculated that it would somehow benefit them in the long run. The person doing the calculating apparently didn't take into account all the Super Loss Prevention dumb asses and the Store Managers. I have since started looking elsewhere for bargains on "other" brands of tools. And that is after being a Craftsman man since receiving my first set of CMAN tools when I turned 16, some 40 years ago. I think it is only a matter of time before all their fine tools are made in China anyway. Sure I'll get over it after awhile, but for now, here's to ya Sears :moon:

In a 55+hour power outage....sorry!:(

No excuse. :lol_hitti

I figured as such. Wasn't quite in lawsuit state at that time anyway.

I'll have to admit... I tried to find out what my neighbors bought....and did!

Used the coupon again today w the Craftsman Club price. Folding utility knife for $7 less $5 = $2. Great price for these knives, and they're handy.

Used three again today to get the c-man pro pliers for a song.
I'll get the other pliers variants tomorrow.

Sorry a lot of you have crappy store managers.

This is a silly question for those participating in the survey to win the $4000 gift card---

Because the transaction is linked to the salescheck number, are you concerned that by providing your contact info (in order to actually win the gift card), that Sears might contact you later to ask about your use of the coupon?

The mini pliers are a good deal 2+coupon = $3, i just filled in the 3 pliers not included in the 5pc set ($14.99 during dec CC) for the 3 sets we have (garage, hobby room, dad's tool bag).

For those of you that are having trouble using those coupons, be sure to leave a big stack of them in the basket where they keep the sale fliers and scattered around the tool and garden departments.

I have had no problem using three coupons on three different trips to Sears. Doing multiple transactions in one trip is just not an easy option for me when I have my soon to be three year old daughter with me so I do not know if that would fly at my local store.

First off, it is THEIR coupon.

Second, you are making the assumption that this huge coporate entity has it's junk together enough to track and manage each small $5 (or under) purchase that is made. If they did have it together they'd tell each store it is real so they are not turning away revenue.

I don't know about your stores but mine has enough traffic in it that they are probably happy to have each register ring up even and keep product fom walking out the door at the end of the day.

The only thing I hink it interesting is that this coupon cancels out any subsequent tax on the subtracted $5 amount. That's how you can get the $5 items for $0.

I found out that the same lady that helped me today and was very polite will be there saturday. happens to be that I will be in fresno on saturday.
I found out that the sears online questionair about their service gets back as a rating to the cashier that helped you as well as a rating for the store. (any sears employees want to verify) so if you got good service from someone and they were cool about the coupon we should be nice to them and rate them well. there are many ways to play this game and we have some sears stores that are making it tought. take the power to vote and lets make the good stores look good to corperate.

Used another today. Their $60 composite-handled die grinder is 10% off right now, less another $5 made it $49.

BTW, can't say I'm terribly impressed w the die grinder. Had to do some modifications to the paddle switch for the trigger. Was gonna return it but got it working. Still, I don't think I should have to modify and grind a $50 die grinder. I expect this from Harbor Freight tools.

It probably comes from the same factory as the HF stuff.

You could also just add some picture hanging hardware or something of the sort to bring it over $5 per plier.

Also, for what it's worth, all hand boxes and portable tool chests are 20% off until the 12th with craftsman card. A few are on sale and can be had for great prices.

Used 4 more today at yet another Sears to see if they were playing ball. No problems.

I'll probably go tomorrow too as the c-man club price on the mini-pliers expires Sat.

I got the all eight pliers and used 2-cycle oil to get it over $5, each transaction totaled 63 cents. 8 pliers and 8 bottles of synthetic 2-cycle for a little over $5 seems like a pretty good deal.

I'm starting to feel a little bad about this whole coupon thing. I've used over 50 since the day before Xmas eve and I've only spend about $40. I wish they had a like a $750 off $750 coupon because I need a tool chest that I will not be able to afford for a few more years for all this stuff.

I wouldn't worry too much. I've heard of many people doing much worse, focusing on the "free" or <10¢ transactions. Oh, I've done my fair share of 8¢ transactions, but I also dropped some cash on some new power tools. In total, I dropped $400, including $228 spent using coupons.

I wish they had a $750 off coupon too, but would settle for $50 off $50. =)

Most of my (~75 so far) purchases have been in the $2-$3 range, so they're doing just fine. (avg cost of a socket in a set on sale is ~$2.

Must be nice.

I've used one so far on a $25 flex handle. After that they wen't nuts and wouldn't let me use them on any size purchase.

I guess next time I won't drive past Home Depot or Lowes.

Highly unlikely, but I hear what you're saying. One reason I started to get away from HF die grinders is poor trigger action or sticky safetys.

However the bulk of Craftsman air tools are Florida Pneumatic, which is really good but lesser known stuff. Being on dial-up right now I'm not gonna go to FP's site, but it's quite easy to find a lot of Craftsman air tools on there, such as their black composite impact gun (not the IR one) and their gimmicky one-finger-reverse air ratchet.

Got all the mini-pliers too. 1 large garage hook + 1 mini pliers = $.13

Used 10 more today at two different Sears. One had seen a lot of them and was told not to take any that "didn't scan" because then they could be fake. I showed where it says to type it in if it does not scan. She said jst one manager was being a jerk about it and she entered the one that didn't scan anyway.

At another store they took them but said it was supposed to be one per customer. I told them it didn't say that and they seemed to know. It was just a pain for them sometimes when it doesn't scan.

They said one person this AM came in with a stack of XEROX copies of the coupon and tried to use them all. They denied him because they were "copies". I think when people come in with 20 or more it raises red flags with the managers as they see that after all is done they got $5 for the goods. When it's a huge amount it certainly can get the coupon shut down at that store.

BUT, that's Sears' coupon choice, and I'll keep using it when I can.

This coupon worked on some nice 90lb rated casters I needed for my garage file cabinet.

I have used a bunch of the coupons to get sockets. The only Sears store within 100 miles of me is out of stock on a lot of stuff though and they said it may be weeks before they get stuff in. I was trying to get full sets of the 1/4 swivel sockets in inch and metric. They are out of 3/16, 11/32, 5, 6, 9, and 11mm. Can anyone see if your Sears has them next time you go in with a batch of coupons? I'll be happy to pay a bit more than the $5.00 off price per socket.

Same problem here. I have to go to the mall store to get the selection I need and things are getting slim at the other stores.

I'll take a look next time I go...

No luck finding 11mm 6pt 1/2 drive socket at 4 SEARS!

They've been out for weeks. They are now running low on pencils, picture hanging hooks, screwdrivers and sockets. The problem is their inventory system I think. Nobody knows when they get stuff in. One person told me I could order it from the catalog. One socket? No Thanks.

I HATE when people tell me that they can order something for me at a store. Newsflash: if I wanted to oder something, I would have done it online already:rolleyes:

just a note
in the ordering computer they have in the store is says 'free shipping'
I asked the guy abouy it and he said that anything that will fot in a mailpouch will ship free if you do the net order from the store.
so next time you need that one special wrench or socket and do not want to pay more for shipping than the item....

So, over the past few weeks I have used some of the coupons to get a few sockets I needed and having decent success. Then I was rejected by 3 stores in two days and was pretty upset with the inconsistancy. I wrote a semi-formal two page letter to customer relations on Saturday. I received an email from the customer relations people asking for my phone number so as to contact me regarding the matter. Maybe someone will finally give us a straight answer about what Sears is doing and how to fix the issue with consistancy from store to store. I hope they call soon.

On the contrary, I'm sure that sales have been boosted this quarter. Having customers come in with coupons drums up more sales than rejecting said coupons. Sears can still claim increased sales even if there were no profits.

For sure. Now that I've got all the sockets to fill in my sets I'm moving on to extensions, etc, which results in $5 off a $15 extension, only 1/3 off... with this type of loose item that rarely goes on sale it is a good deal for me, and I'm sure sears is still making money on these high markup items. Win-win.

Just shows they NEED to move product, any way they can. The more transactions the better. The coupon brings people in the store and gives them cash flow. Cash flow, even when not bringing in high numbers is tons better than no movement. No movement at the store shows that the consumer is going elsewhere. The coupon brings movement if anything. I've spent some good money on parts there and even when you take the coupons I've used (many) they still got money and compared to their costs they made money.
They need this coupon to help keep the inventory turning. Stagnant inventory is death.

I'll do my part and pick up a bunch more stuff this week. It's the least I can do...

For instance, I'll be buying some ink cartridges there for my printer as all these coupons have drained my ink. :)
