One might suppose more Craftsman tanks are reported to rust out because there were more Craftsman compressors sold out there. It also might be they used thin, cheap tanks; I mean lasting only thirty years without being drained; what a ripoff.
But yes, better, a bit of looking should find a sound later tank. They are thick on the ground because the Chicom compressors and motors are overtaxed. Putting two capacitors and a "5HP" sticker on a sheet metal motor the size of a loaf of bread is a lie being told at the entrance to every FLAPS and orange/blue big box store.
