I am working on a Sears Champion model 101.03521 12" drill press. I believe it is an Atlas Press build from mid 1930's to early 1940's. Anyway to narrow that down some? Also I would lime to get my hands on a relevant manual - I think I read that the Atlas 42 is a close relative?

Thanks
Rick

My machine has a modified feed mechanism - hub with 4 arms. I know that is not correct and want to go back to the original design - a single arm going through a hole in the pinion and held in place by a thumb screw. Does anybody have an idea of what the single arm diameter is - I assume it should be reasonably tight in th e pinion hole.

I'm getting near the end of this project - I'm going to try a 3L350 v belt. I'm also looking for a source for a vintage or repro switch box - something small and art deco ish. Maybe somebody knows of a source?

Thanks
Rick

I was thinking a barrel type toggle switch but your link might work. My concern is the size - this, as you know, is a small drill press sol I don't want o
to overwhelm it with a large switch box. Can you give me a rough idea of the box size? It looks like a standard "handy box" size?
Thanks

Yes... a standard size.

A Craftsman Powr-Panl would work.

A foot switch is a good idea for a drill press. I'm using this old Allen-Bradley on one of my dp's.

Do you happen to have one of those power panl? I'm a bit hesitant with the exposed 10 volt terminals - how wold these have been mounted?

They were designed to bolt-up to a Craftsman power tool bench.

The problem with the Powr-Panl is that the original connections are two-pronged. There are several good three-prong conversion option in this thread:

I got a 3L370 this morning - seems like a perfect fit. Belt sits pretty flush with pulley rim and length puts the motor pulley right in the middle of adjustment range.

I think I want something that is self contained with the machine so it cn more readily be moved around. I'm thinking of something attached to the motor mounting plate. Sent you a PM regarding the GE DPST switch.

I really like the old Walker Turner switches. But they are expensive. I made something similar with a conduit corner box and a regular toggle switch.
