Online sales have hurt brick and mortar stores like Sears but it'll be interesting to see what happens Jan 1 when both Fedex and UPS go to a dimensional freight model. The online guys are going to have to increase their shipping cost and those companies with "free freight" or a "flat-rate" policy are going to have to build the cost into the products they sell.
Lightweight items like trash cans, storage boxes, shop vacuums, etc already carry dimensional surcharges that will escalate big time in 2015.
A Bosch L-Boxx 4 that weighs 5 lbs shipped in an 18x15x14" box will be assessed a dimensional weight of 23 lbs. An 8 gallon shop vac (35 lbs actual weight) ships in a 26x24x18" box with a dimensional weight of 68 lbs.
Better hope the big box stores (Lowes, HD, Menards, etc) start carrying more tools if Sears goes under. SD
