Add a card to your cart to see the discount....

Remember, you can't use gift cards online, unless they recently changed that.

Any idea of the time period for this deal? Or did you just happen to find it?

Holly ****!!! it worked for me....I have $1400 worth of cards in my cart...($750 only showing to be charged to me)......Im about to pull the trigger, I might even get more....wife just said we need a new washer/dryer (especially at 50% off)!!!

I think she is a little more approving of my time on GG now :)

My sister and her fiance and I are over at my parent's house. My sister's online, and we're watching "The Orphan". She goes, "you like Sears, right? They have 50% off holiday e-gift cards right now. Should I order one for you?

And so I ordered one. Might order another one once I get the first code via email.

This is one of those mistakes that is going to end with a lot of people being fussy about being ripped off by Sears when they don't fulfill the offer. Seems like this happens every few months on Garage Journal to one retailer or another.

When you do this, just realize that Sears made a mistake and you are trying to take advantage of them. In all of their terms of use they make it clear that they won't honor price mistakes. Don't get all pissy when they don't let you take advantage of them.

The worst part of internet pricing is that it can be revoked at any minute and be applied retroactively. You agreed to that in the terms of service when you viewed the web site - without even knowing it.
But I hope you prove me wrong. But I'm not bothering to order one.....

Balance= $100. This is going to cost sears a lot of money.....

Is that via the code or Just the Email?

I Agree.. I think this is gonna be a Mess. There are numerous threads across the Web and people are ordering $1000 bucks at a time, This will end badly with Numerous Charge backs and 10-14 days of waiting to have your money refunded.

I checked the balance using the code and PIN they sent in the email. Obviously they could revoke them/refund our money, but it's less likely once the gift card is issued and confirmed.

It wasn't just the gift cards, it was all tools. I added close to $1k worth of stuff to my cart and they fixed it right before I went to pay. I did get an initial gift card order in for $300. We'll see if it gets through.

All seems to be fixed now.

I have a receipt that shows my price, if they try to do a run around and charge me the full amount I'll have the credit card company refuse payment. If they revoke the e-card, no big loss.

 so as a retailer i do this "on accident", then taking a few weeks to refund the canceled orders, keep the interest...

Ouch.

That's why I went for a GC, otherwise I would have spent forever on choosing tools to order and would have ended up blowing my chances for the deal entirely.

Sears is terrible with refunds. I had to do credit card disputes on two occasions before they would properly refund my orders.

Sears hit my credit card for the 50% amount, still nothing in my e-mail though.

Meanwhile, I'm sure their purchase traffic skyrocketed. 60+ pages of comments on slickdeals so far in just a few minutes. I wonder how long it will take Sears to sort this one out, and I wonder how many of their website staff are getting fired tonight.

We'll see what happens when i go to pick up my order tomorrow morning. Worst they can do is say they won't give it to me and refund my card. I imagine Sears is scrambling right now based on how fast the site was fixed.

Now we wait for the people on the deal sites to say they'll never shop at Sears again if they won't honor the purchase, lol.

BTW, thanks Stuey (even if it doesn't go through)

I think the only other way there would be more traffic about Sears website is if it ever ran smooth! I'd wager the staff is getting a raise based on how the site usually performs.:lol_hitti

Sears can't fix a 3-day coupon by the 3rd day and cannot activated an advertised "10% off on tools" discount anytime during its 2-day run, but they can cancel promos like this at midnight on a Sunday the day after Christmas....

Like I've said before, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a calculated "mistake". 50% of all tools and gift cards is a pretty big mistake, but easy for them to remedy. Like someone else said before, they hold your money for a bit, gain some interest all the while showing increased sales before the new year is done.

That seems to be pretty likely actually.

Their holiday sales have supposedly been pretty poor, with a recent editorial describing how Sears is at the point where they will need to beg for shoppers this holiday season.

I ordered $2k between 4 $500 giftcards. Paid with a PayPal balance and have gotten confirmations for the orders but no GC yet in 90 minutes of waiting. Hoping this one flies true. SLick Deals is over 100 pages on this topic
