Good luck in your state. In Ohio, all but the manager makes minimum wage, and not a penny more. Managers are what? 1/10th of 1% of that 2.1 million? Statistically, I doubt that makes my post "blatantly false".
Poppycock. Where's ANY evidence to support that? Please find some.
The IBIS World numbers wouldn't shift the average pay up the amount it did if it was 1/10th of 1% of the 2.1million employees that were the only ones making more than minimum. I guarantee you'll find no evidence to support your claim that only the manager makes more than minimum.
As for my town, it's Portsmouth, Ohio. I would be more than happy to give you a tour of Portsmouth, Sciotoville, Wheelersburg, and New Boston to show you all the shuttered businesses.
That's 4 towns, not one. You said, and I quote:
StevenBiars said:the 200 or so businesses Walmart has put out of business in my town
A shuttered business does not prove that Walmart is responsible, number one. Number two, it should be incredibly easy to produce a list of even half of the number you claim, were it not hyperbolic exaggeration.
Ohio's minimum wage goes up 30 cents to $7.70 per hour on January 1st. After taxes, that's a ****** take home. On top of that, the 20 or so Walmarts I've been to (OH, KY, PA, WV) have almost always had an employee bitching about having to clock out to keep from hitting 40 hours, less they be subjected to the wrath of the manager, and a possible firing.
I havne't been defending the wage, but overtime is a big thing in any industry - most don't like paying for it, and most employers have strict policies about it. No big surprise that Walmart doesn't want to pay overtime in most cases.
Regardless, if you want to ***** about Walmart, go start a thread in Free Parking, not hijack a thread about Sears. Also, we really don't need you to start a third thread about Sears, since you're already posting in here.
