Has anyone used this stuff? Is the tubing the same size as pex? Could you use pex pipe if you had some and needed more to make this kit work?

After a quick google search, it looks like 1/2" PEX is 5/8" OD, so it won't work with the push lock fittings.

There was a thread with some connectors to use, I am not sure where or what it was called. I will be doing research once I get it as I will need more fitting at a lower cost.
It may be the PEX-AL-PEX fittings.
My plan is to use the rapid air to do the runs and switch to iron for the fittings at the end for economy and rigidity.

Huh thats weird, the stuff I used on my house about 8 years ago I could of swore was right at 1/2". I remember because they sold a connector called "sharkbite" that would just push on and there was no crimping. And those fittings would would with 1/2" copper, 1/2" pex and one other plastic pipe system (cant recall). Maybe I just assumed it was 1/2".

So this system they call 1/2" would be the measurement of the outside of the tubing and not the inside? I tried to look for a spec sheet on sears website but didn't see one.

Copper, pex, and cpvc all share the same OD within their nominal size....

Even though this line (or any line copper, pvc, pex) says "1/2" doesn't mean ANY value is actually half inch lol.

Kinda like a 2x4 isn't 2" by 4"... That's just it's "nominal" size.....

If the OD of that pipe is 5/8 (same as 1/2 copper, 1/2 pex, 1/2 cpvc) then it should work.
