Sears warranty frustration

I purchased a circular saw from Sears and the handle is cracking (see picture). I purchased the saw online and saved my receipt, although that doesn't seem to be doing any good. I called Sears trying to get a warranty replacement and got transferred to multiple departments with each person telling me I needed to talk to a different department (warranty, extended protection, home improvement, etc). So I wound up getting sent in circles before someone in the warranty department told me they couldn't find my order by phone number or address and they have no way to look up the purchase by order number??:wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf:

So I gave up. I'm going to file a BBB complaint.

Why haven't you just brought it back to the store? I know you bought it online but returns usually go better in person.

I wasn't sure if the local store would give me trouble since it was purchased online. I'll try taking it back to them and see how it goes. Regardless, I should be able to call someone on their customer service number and get it warrantied without getting a run around. That's just unacceptable customer service.

+1 on the customer serrvice! A good freind of mine spent 20+ years their as head of appliance service department and was ordered to off load shelfs of parts into the dumpsters and they did. They were to push the customer into new appl. and no repairs. I faught Sears auto on their replacing alts. on 90+ of all battery replacements. Used SO meters for all my test back then.

Thanks, JASTECH

When I was given one tool chest for Christmas I took it to the local store to see if I could exchange it for a different color. They easily took it back and gave me a store credit for the current price (same a purchase price) even though I didn't have the receipt at the time. Since they didn't have what I wanted in stock, I went online at home and ordered what I wanted for store pickup. Easier than asking them to order something. I've also taken a small 1/4" tap wrench from a set and exchanged it for a new one without them blinking an eye.

As much as I prefer to shop with them online to avoid salesman looking for a commission while knowing nothing about tools, returning stuff to the store in person is probably the easiest method.

:shocking:Take it to a Sears store and put it on the table and show them what happened.
