Didn't you guys do some type of secret Santa deal once on here? I'm pretty sure you did, but it was at a time when I was not really that active on the site. I'd like to get on board this year, and it's never too early to start planning something like this.

That being said, I am not good at planning/organizing. So, how should we do it?

And, can it be made into a sticky?

Ahh, gotcha.

So, if this is going to happen, who should organize it? BWP again, assuming he is willing?

I'm new to GJ and I'd like to participate! I read over the previous threads and it looks like a great idea. Very nice BWP!

BWP,
If you'd like me to code up a quick web app to allow members to register with their name, GJ username, and address, and you manually "activate" them. Then upon your command, it would randomly assign a secret santa to every active member. Then it could auto generate an email to the secret santa with the person's name, garage journal username, and mailing address. Not sure if it would make it easier or not, but I wouldn't mind doing it :)

My GearWrench tools will be going to person I'm assigned to.

Either the X pliers or the screwdriver set - I haven't decided which.

Ah ha, giving away free gifts, because they reek of another country, I will send you a HF socket set, LOL

I'd love to be in on it, but I don't think my post count will be high enough. :( I guess I could do like a guy on another BB I'm on did. he'd make a post & then delete it immediately just to run his post count up so he could have the highest post count.

Hell, I might as well get in. I have no idea how many posts I have though...lol

Guess that would be "188"...

Maybe this is the perfect incentive for people who are not senior members to step up their game and become more active on the site.

Because, for Secret Santa to work properly, we need to know you well enough from your presence here to be able to send you a gift that matches what you actually like...at least that seems to be the ideal to me.

I agree completely!

I noticed last year the dealine was 12/5. Maybe if this year it was just a bit earlier it woudl allow people just a bit more time to review gift ideas and get them to each other in plenty of time. Holiday shipping is always horrible!...lol
