The dog has to be mean. I bought a dog for security when i lived in a bad part of town. They stole the dog supposedly for dog fighting or training their fighting dogs. Some junkyards keep dogs on the property that "own the yard during darkness. I once worked on a very large bailing machine in a yard like that I noticed the dogs stalking me as the shadows grew long.
The yard manager told me that once he worked in the office trailer too late in the evening nd decided to sleep in the office rather than have to face those dogs.
There is a famous distillery in Scotland that is guarded by a gaggle of geese. If they don't peck you to death, their noise will alert the human security force.
My shop is close to my house, however internet & cable are not available cell phones only. Our cell service is not great. Im looking at a Honeywell system to set off a siren to alert us if someone breaks again. To the person that suggested insurance, what a joke $1000 deductable, depreciation takes a huge chunk!couple a questions....
-if you don't have internet, that implies no cable, which implies a shop sitting by itself on a parcel of land
I'm assuming you have electrical power to this shop?
Do you have regular landline telephone service?
Is the shop rural, suburban, or urban?
I have seen battery-powered cell-phone connected monitoring systems in Youtube videos
So, just because there is no internet, that does not mean you cannot run a network between both buildings to set up security cameras to be viewed remotely. Ruin a cable or three from the house to the shop, put cameras in, connect to an NVR at the house, monitor on your internal TV and remotely if you get internet in the future. You could always get satellite internet to eliminate your connectivity issues. My shop is close to my house, however internet & cable are not available cell phones only. Our cell service is not great.
