Looked like a big C-clamp to me with a 1/2" drive attached to it. I guess it's for ball joints but that's not my specialty. I prefer to paint **** and not get greasy.

Everyone's favorite, the tool bear does a walk through of the Tekton booth. Doesn't give much commentary but shows what they carry.

Anybody got one of those 15% off coupons shown in the video? I want to buy some socket sets and that would seal the deal.

I had passes for SEMA for business reasons, but ended up having to consult in Santa Fe last week.

Before you complain about how Vegas is nickel and diming you, remember that the resort fee allows you to take a **** in the pool on your last day. Priceless.

What on earth else could they be billing for when the pool is 20+ years old?

What is the OEM tool part number and what do they say it should be used for as it looks fairly light, I hope Chris from Astro will show what tool they have now and will be posting it soon. Thanks for the photo.

Edit: not the best reviews. Hope Astro's is stronger and hope they offer the anvils separately for use in my BJP1 or my Astro BJP.

Looks like most people are using for u-joints but I can think of a ton of uses around the shop for smaller stuff that a socket would push.

Yeah and it's another case of Amazon lumping reviews for multiple products - gotta carefully read the title of each review

Tekton was in the outdoor tent outside of the south hall this year. Could also perhaps be a cost per SqFt choice. I heard that the convention center expansion (where the Rivera used to be) is supposed to be ready for CES 2021, so that might mix things up again.

It used to be all the tool vendors were in north hall. But a few years back some brainiac decided diversity was a good thing and started spreading everyone to promote more traffic. My last sema journey was a couple years ago and I found tekton and a few other players in the tents east of south hall.

Pretty sweet, wonder why they opted to go a different route with the impacts? Not necked down fully like the rest of their chrome stuff.

On the SAE set the last three from 7/16 and smaller were necked down from what I could see

Yeah, only half way tho. Similar to Gearwrench. Their chrome stuff is necked down fully, like 3/4s of way down the socket as opposed to half.

Impacts tend to need more meat since the material is softer. Only reason I can think of

I was hoping to see daisy-chainable shop lights at this year's show, but sounds like they'll be coming out sometime in the future.

Yeah I was thinking that too after I wrote it, but there's companies out there that are doing it which is why I knew it was a thing. Doesn't bother me much, being necked down halfway is usually plenty but they look nicer and would have matched their other sets (not that I care really. Just curious)

That tool grid booth at AAPEX was real interesting but, they need a wider distributor network than Cornwell & Matco. I'd also like to see a starter pack similar to what VIM offers with their magrails direct from the manufacturer..

It looks like a great system and could develop a huge following but the pricing on Matco’s website is crazy expensive.

While I don’t imagine many will do it but I can’t imagine what it would cost to outfit a box like on display in that video.

It is obviously no longer about showing off product for in-person purchasing contracts.....if it were why would Harbor Freight be there since they only sell via their brick and mortar stores.

Harbor Freight were at SEMA, which is a show and sell from your booth kind of event. Many show specials offered on the floor, and really designed for getting the word out to the industry community and less about setting up contracts. Think advertising more than deal making.

AAPEX is the industry only opportunity to set up purchasing contracts...less flash, more business. More dudes in suits in little glass walled rooms hashing out the next year's supply of widgets. That's where Tool Grid were located.

AAPEX is a trade show. SEMA is a three ring circus. One is for business the other is for social media ********.

I attended SEMA this year, I plotted and planned my attack, wanted to see specific vendors and made a valid attempt to see 103 specific booths. It was just not possible. 4 days of walking and squeezing through the tens of thousands of people was beyond exhausting.

That said, I did accomplish what I was there for. To seek out specific items needed on two separate builds going on in my shop. Spoke to the right people and even purchased some new equipment for the shop.

I enjoyed SEMA but I am too old to do that amount of walking, I am sorry to say I am not in good enough shape to spend 4-8 hour days on my feet anymore.

as far as tools I did buy some new open end tubing wrenches that have replaceable faces and a set of lift supports that will make hanging fuel tanks and exhaust systems a lot easier under the lift.

I wonder if gearwrench plans on getting into cordless power tools.

WIHA getting in to the mechanics tool market? Not made in Germany but sockets and wrenches imported from Taiwan. The new tools are already listed on their website with prices.
