Did you run some water in the sink/shower/bathtub to make sure all the traps are full? Although it is hard to believe they wouldn't be used enough to stay full.

Yeah we have stayed here when we come to climb ice for the last 12 years. I have read what i can find about p traps and s traps. Why else would one smell sewer gas with this setup.

Is there a floor drain? If so put water in it the smell will go away. The trap for the floor drain is dry.

Dang, I’m a plumber and I’ll help out with the best advice I can when/where I can but you guys are going a bit too far with DIY plumbing troubleshooting/repairs in your hotel rooms. 😂😉

Request another room man!

Thanks for that, it isn’t a matter of convenience.

TMI, but my friend owns the hotel.

I am picking the brains of experience from this board to help him with this annoyance.

I have to agree that the overflow has to be the culprit. Thanks for your help(s).

Hmmmmm? But wouldn’t the drains back up. Not a lot of snow lately. Maybe 5 days aho….
Nope. If the vent is broken off in the ceiling, the smell comes down through the wall.and out into the cabinet or electrical outlets.

I guess I should have just said vent is damaged not plugged, but in any case, liquid will still drain, albeit slowly, if the vent is plugged.

It’s in our hotel room
You in Prudhoe Bay?

Sewage smell in the man camp is common enough I barely notice it anymore.
Does get quite potent when the **** truck is pumping the tanks everyday or two.

I sure as hell wasn't trading out my prime location room just over that!

It has those cheesey nut and ferrel fittings that loosen all the time. I've had enough trouble with them that I won't use them
