Hi GJ,

I'm building a small 8x10 post frame shed. I have the 6 posts in already (4' concrete footings) and I'm now trying to figure out how to "narrow" the opening at the end of the shed so I can frame a 72" door opening. If I don't have to dig 2 more footings - that would be preferable, but I'm trying to figure out how to get a ROCK SOLID framing member in place at the rough opening of the door - which is approx 15" more narrow than the opening of my posts (see the gap marked with the red arrows). Note that there is NO FLOOR in the shed. Nothing to mount to on the ground. Any thoughts? Drawing attached should be helpful...

Two studs with a sill plate or girt to corner and a diagonal at ground level to sill plate or girt on sides. Not sure on wall framing - studs and plates or girts attached to outside of corner posts or? but must be some lower framing member that can be braced across corners. Photo?

Pressure treated wood across ground and frame it in between the posts.

I'm trying to visualize what you're putting in for a door? Is it just an opening or you're going to have some sort of 6ft wide door swinging off one side? saloon door type double door? what's happening?

Have you considered some sort of screw/post base sort of option? an idea at least, I just see that without either what essentially is a floor joist across the opening, or another buried post you're going to be challenged to have the rock solid framing you're after if you're just hanging things off the corner posts and top plate.

Me . I would build two 4 foot wide swing open barn style doors ( unless you need the short wall space on either side from narrowing ) and attache them to the corner posts. if you need the narrower door for some reason I would just dig two more holes and add two more 4x4s and cement them in. not that hard to dig two holes IMO. probably dont need to be 4 foot deep.

Either put in two more posts for the door opening or a 4x4 half buried in the gravel as a "sill"

Bore in a couple more holes in the ground and put in two green treated 4x4 posts rated for ground contact. No concrete footer needed because they are not supporting and weight to speak of.

When I enclosed under my deck for a shed, like you I have no floor. I needed something for one side of the door opening. The other side used the 6x6 deck post. I ended up pounding one of the green steel fence post into the ground about 2 ft.
Knowing I wouldn't get the location perfect I put it about 1/2-3/4 inch inside of where I actually wanted it to end up. I bolted my 2x6 at the top to the inside of the deck structure and used plywood pieces to shim to the steel post. I started w/ just one bolt and nut at the top so I could mess w/ my shims at the bottom to get it vertical. Once vertical I drilled and installed another top bolt/nut. I suppose a 4x4 in concrete would be stronger but the door is just 2ft wide by 6ft tall T1-11 and 1x4s so it's not real heavy
