Shed Roof Question

This is my first post and I apologize if this is in the wrong space.

I am building a 12 X 16 barn style shed (Shedking.net plans). Walls are almost complete and will soon be moving on to the trusses and roof. There will be smallish loft on one end. I plan to use hurricane ties to connect the roof trusses to the walls. Walls are 16" OC and the trusses are 24" OC.

My question is related to timing of adding roof sheathing. I can't imagine the trusses will be overly stable without sheathing installed and I am wondering if leaving the trusses unsupported for several days is OK. Was thinking I might add a few 2 X 4's across the trusses to provide some support (probably 3 2 X 4 X 8 overlapped per side). Does this seem sufficient? It would probably only be without sheathing for 3-5 days.

Thanks in advance and I'm happy to provide any additional details if needed.

I just went thru this a week ago, I am building a 12x20 barn style and I put up the trusses and let them sit that way with no sheeting for 4 days and it wasn't any issue. if you put a 2x4 across it that would definitely hold them fine as well.

We used to put up a 2x4 vertically at each gable end, running up the outside wall and up far enough to support the end truss on each end. Then put a couple of 2x4s across the top, to hold the spacing. That should suffice until you can get sheathing on, unless it gets REALLY windy.

Welcome to the Forum. Alaska is a big place, can you be a little more specific?
A lot will depend on your local weather, but in July your weather should be of no real concern.

Thanks for the responses, I was out of town for a couple of days so couldn't respond. I am in Anchorage. Will probably get the walls up in the next day or so and will post pics.

A 16' 2X4- some call a "ribbon board", also heard it called a layout or legend board.

It's premarked with the layout of the trusses so as you flip the trusses up and secure them to the wall plate you know where they go up high with the ribbon board- without having to pull out a tape and measure.

Leave the board(s) until most of the sheathing is in place.
