So, I finally completed doing interior finishing on my garage (drywall, paint, shelves). Part B of the garage workshop plan was to build a 8x10 shed to get the 'yard and garden' stuff out of the garage.
I am nearing completion on the shed and have been pushing to get it done before snow flies. I got the roof sheeted this afternoon and started shingling at sunset. I finished about 1/2 of one side of the roof before I couldn't see to work anymore.
Later, as I was sitting in the house, it dawned on me that I goofed up the shingles - I forgot to put a starter strip up the rake of the roof. I DID remember to put a starter strip along the eave though. I've got about five or six courses started from the front edge - about 2/3 the way to the peak. The length of the roof rake is about 6 feet - it's a simple gable style roof.
I'm using laminated asphalt (aka 'random tab') shingles and I'm overhanging them about 3/8 of an inch over the metal drip edge strip. There is roofing felt under the shingles, if that makes a difference.
Question: is this worth tearing apart to fix, considering it's a backyard shed? I think maybe I should just finish this one rake edge with no starter strips and put strips on all three other rakes. Or should I do the other rake edge on this gable without a strip so it matches? This gable is the front of the shed which faces the yard.
