Shop made forklift attachments thread

What do you have hooked to the rear of the tractor? The green version of a Poultry Housekeeper? Or is it a rock picker?

It’s a Kelly Poultry House Cleaner so yes, the red version of a Lewis Brothers Housekeeper. I had a Housekeeper for 5yrs and it did a nice job but it always had a bearing out somewhere and I was sick of it. The Kelly has way larger shafts and bearings and hasn’t given me a lick of trouble yet.

I have never come across this thread…..it’s evil for me….or is it for her…..

I have always said it’s a life dream to have a place where I need a tractor…..only thing is then I will need a skidsteer too…..then I would need containers for parking etc…

First time using the skid steer quick tach crane I built on something other than my skid steer, and first time setting trusses with it.


Didn't know there was gonna be a tractor there, was originally going to chain it on a trailer to make a gin pole and use the winch/sheave to lift.

Looks like that attachment worked great for setting those trusses Muckin_Slusher. I use my crane attachment for similar lifting tasks all the time. Very handy. Ed.

I had to get a customer's 5th wheel out of the shop and I remembered I had this little hitch lying around so I welded some quick fork pockets on and it made for an easy move. I was long contemplating how to chain the camper to the forks and not risk dropping it and poking a hole in the Fiberglass so I was glad I came up with this instead

Looks like a very handy attachment for moving around fifth wheel trailers chickenfarmer. A good use for that hitch. I was thinking today while augering nine deep holes with an underpowered POS that I wish I had a big auger with fork pockets attached to the handles. I think I'll have to watch for a big nasty two man auger and modify it. Ed.

Regarding fork position with side shift. I have a big Hyster that has side shift and I bought hydrauic cylinders to make fork positioners. The issue I have is, the carriage is split by vertical supports. The inner range is OK for pallets but the forks are too fat for many pallets. The outer area is great for machines and heavy lifts.

Anyway, the forks are on bars and weigh about 400 each. If I can get a fork on the ground with the bar loose, I can use the side shift to move the fork. Not sure about a fork on a rack but, same idea should apply. It is the big one in the pic!

I just 'bumped' into this thread again, I never get notification emails from any forum.
My RC 150 Hyster is the same, 2 vertical supports, and the gap in the middle means you can't
push the forks together in the center. Stupid design! The big Clarks have 1 bar and the forks
will nearly touch in the center. No idea why Hyster did that. I was contenplating cutting out
the 2 bars and welding in one thicker center bar. Probably won't go thru the trouble.

With this thread back to the top I'll add a few pics of most of my forklift attachments in use this week. Building a small, 20x36 Pole barn and the forklift is involved in every step from clearing the site to setting poles. Wish I had a fork mounted auger for this project. The one man contraption I used tried to kill me. Had to do quite a bit of hand work to get the holes right. Finally had a use for the big Makita beam saw too. Ed.
