I built a shop back in 2007 and posted pics here. The board was a big help. The old shop is posted here:

I moved recently to Scottsdale, AZ. The lot is perfect for a shop and no zoning issues, just over one half acre. These pics are after I removed 4 trees and 9 bushes.

I rcvd my permit yesterday from the city and the concrete guys will be here next week. Its 30 x 54 with an awning on the end to park my race trailer. The ceiling is flat with 12' walls, 2x6 construction, smooth sand finish stucco exterior, 12x10 glass garage door and a commercial 8' entry door. Trane heat and air. Full drywall interior, paint, Andersen windows.
I still have all of my equipment from my old shop.

The size may seem unusual, but my last shop was perfect....I just made it twice as wide this time.

The garage door is 10 foot tall and 12 wide, windows are all 60H X 48W.

The home had no gates on the property so I had to build a fence and gate. I don't do wood, so steel was the only choice. Two 8 foot swinging gates with hinges hidden on the back. The main posts are 4x4 and 3/16 thick

Hey Glen, Really liked the way your first shop turned out! can't wait to see how this one turns out. Judging by your lot size, I'd guess your in the northern part of old Scottsdale? Worked in many shops (garages) in that area over the years. Good luck..

The fence panels are 16 ga. steel. The plan is to water jet them with a modern pattern. Maybe incorporate the house number in a modern font

Putting the house number would be great Glen, especially if it can be back lit or something like that. I can tell you, seeing house numbers make the job easier when you're calling for help. . . . or ordering a pizza.

I'm guessing it'll all be black or some type of finish afterwards ?

Looks like you are off to a good start Glen. I wish we had gone with 12 foot walls. We did 10 foot walls 5/12 pitch scissor truss so we ended up with 2 1/2/ 12 on the inside, have 14'2" in the center. If I have something tall on the hoist I have to be care full with the rollup door. No problem with a car or pickup. Good luck with the build. Later Jeff West Phx

The surveryors were out and marked setback and PUE....the concrete guys dug the footer, they return tomorrow for rebar and cleanup, the electrician will be here Monday to drop in his conduit. Hope to have the setback and footer inspection Tuesday.

Does not look like 1200 Sq. Ft......but it is. Plus the 12x30 carport pad on the other end.

What's your budget for this project in round numbers?

My son lives very near you in Paradise Valley and he would like to build a shop too.....

Nice looking fence -- I love seeing how beautiful a project looks when someone with real welding skills puts it together. Good luck with your build.

I like the idea of the glass door, but wont it create a lot of heat letting the sun in like that? BTW, I seem to have a "fetish" with Paradise Valley. I'm constantly on real estate websites looking at the mansions. Someday, maybe... the girlfriend thinks I'm nuts (probably right)

48x60 windows X 6
12x10 garage door

The car port posts go up tomorrow.

Trusses went up this morning and some sheathing. Tomorrow we finishe up the sheathing and put up doors and windows. I tried to post pics with someone in them, otherwise it just looks like a dog house.

nope....never was an important factor for me. Add in the fact the septic is uphill in the front yard and there was no way I wanted to deal with it.

Bad *** Glen!

I'm over in Glendale and need to build something similar in the next two years. I'll be following along closely.

$62k sounds like a steal for a turn-key workshop compared to the quotes I've received.

Price never adds up until you see the finished product. I could have got in around 50. I wanted some flashy stuff too.

I remembered your name from about 10 years ago when you were building this truck.
I was in love with that truck!
Did you ever finish it?
I thought you were ahead of your time back then.

I looked for a built thread over at www.67-72chevytrucks.com,... but couldn't find it.
Just this picture.

Funny how some things never leave your brain.

BTW,... love your new shop.
