Man, that place came together FAST! Looks friggin awesome too, cant wait to see what you do inside...
spent today sealing the floor and after it was dry I put the baseboard molding on. I used this on the last shop and I like it, Most of my equipment/tables are on casters and are steel. if you bump the molding it doesn't get cut up like wood.
The heavy equipment will require a fork lift so I will wait a week before I bring it in.
The game plan is to move the heavy equipment first then have a custom cabinet maker
build cabinets in house for the walls.

Great build and we'll documented, can't wait to see final finish
passed final inspection and moved in today. The white cabinets wont stay....I plan to have taller wall cabinets built and then move these back into a workshop area that is on the back of the house garage. The wife can fill them with painting supplies, and yard stuff.
The luxury of still having a two car garage and workshop on the house will allow me to move the race car up there when I start a new project and start throwing dust.
Next is grading and landscaping, compressor lines and some type of patio/bench setup in the front between the entry door and garage door.

Thanks so much for sharing. I am a couple of years away from building my dream shop/garage in AZ so having some info from your experience is great. I plan on a similar size shop, what ton AC did you use? Also did you go with heat also? Love the garage door, I have been thinking that would be they way to go, get some natural light and it looks great, any issues with heat? You build some great cars!!

Glenn, just got the youtube of the race in Vegas. Looks like the Nova is running good!
Thanks we are getting a little closer, still lots of room for improvement.......I am starting to get some experience behind the wheel and friends have helped with chassis setup.

The ac unit is a 5 ton trane. Not too concerned with door heat, cant be any worse than a roll up metal door. I do plan to hang a black custom made curtain across the front, the shop is very bright and at night the light shining thru is very bright.

Just checking in again, your build looks awesome and the attention to detail is fantastic.
sorry, I just ran across these questions. I found these steel cabinets on Craigslist, they are steel and the shelves are welded in so they are very sturdy. Its not what I had planned to do, but I need some steel shelving for heavier items. all five cabinets for $500
That light switch is from home depot HD and lowes both sell them.
The cabinet guy was by the house tonight, he is building cabinets for the wife unit in the laundry room and is going to make a set of 60W X 42H" wall cabinets to go above my workbench next to the Mill. He is not as cheap as some of those other garage cabinet guys but he uses all wood 3/4" thich solid wood shelves and no MDF.

Hi Glen just now found out you had moved to Scottsdale nice shop more for your projects. We also moved to Queen Creek at the end of January 2015 a few pictures of the garage. I am also building an engine room.

I built a shop back in 2007 and posted pics here. The board was a big help. The old shop is posted here:

I moved recently to Scottsdale, AZ. The lot is perfect for a shop and no zoning issues, just over one half acre. These pics are after I removed 4 trees and 9 bushes.
I rcvd my permit yesterday from the city and the concrete guys will be here next week. Its 30 x 54 with an awning on the end to park my race trailer. The ceiling is flat with 12' walls, 2x6 construction, smooth sand finish stucco exterior, 12x10 glass garage door and a commercial 8' entry door. Trane heat and air. Full drywall interior, paint, Andersen windows.
I still have all of my equipment from my old shop.
The size may seem unusual, but my last shop was perfect....I just made it twice as wide this time.
The garage door is 10 foot tall and 12 wide, windows are all 60H X 48W.
Not sure how I missed this one. Great build!
