Hi !

Help needed for shop remodeling I have a 24x24x8ft ceiling garage with a divider load bearing wall in the middle I would like to remove a 12ft section of the wall will a 2pc 2x12 header be sufficient for that span of opening? The trusses they run perpendicular to the wall in question above this wall is a 8’x24’small attic space

What I would like to do is
A 8 ft of wall on one side a 12 ft of header and a 4 ft wall at the other end my plan is to use 2pc of 2”x12” with a ½” filled plywood glued and screwed in the middle and have 3 to 4 jack stud at each end of the header is this sufficient for this situation

Thanks for your help

That header construction is how millions of 16 foot garage doors are installed,
So your 12 feet should not be a problem.
As long as your not storing engine block upstairs you should be OK.
