Well the title says it all. Tallahassee was an Irma target at one time, but she blinked at the last minute and veered off to the east. All we got was an 18 hour power outage and a few branches in the yard. During that time, we really enjoyed all of my battery powered LED shop lights (CAT standalone light, Porter Cable LED, DeWalt LED) and especially my DeWalt shop radio. The radio was especially handy since it has a USB port for phone charging.
I am glad I added the LED tools because they have been very handy in the shop--the emergency use is just a bonus. With all of the batteries charged up, I think we were prepared for a week or more. I used the outdoor grill once but was limited by the wind and rain. We really missed hot coffee. Now I need to add a small propane camping stove so I can heat coffee water on a covered porch.
With Christmas just around the corner, maybe others can make a gift list that includes LED accessory lights that share tool batteries. It sure beats neckties and socks.
