Looking good Shorty, like my place, all that concrete in view at the same time.:lol_hitti
We need to find some more cabinets with all that space .

Since you have a computer there, might as well go buy a plasma cam!!!!

Shorty I love the idea of bending up those shelves for the cart. How clever. How does that vise brake work when bending something that's long? Is it hard to keep a crisp straight line?

Wow shorty, look at that FSD free floor. Hopefully another session tonight and my benches will be restored to their former glory.

Looks good. Looking forward to seeing more.

No football games but could build quite the LEGO town.

A guy could almost walk around in that shop without getting hurt !

LOL. 100% Safety certified by yours truly.

Wow! Great mess untangling in your shop. Do you loan your brother out?

Yes but be forewarned, he likes throwing other peoples stuff out.

No doubt... your brother might have stumbled into a goldmine of a
new business!

Glad he helped since I’ve had to deal with most of it. He probably would be good at it but prefers electrical work. Guess pay is better. Lol.

Thanks. First time bending something wider than the brake. It did just fine. I bent it in multiple passes. On the first pass, I would align one side in the previous crease by an inch and align the other end on the scribe line.

Still need to fill up the ones I have. CNC Plasma sounds like a good idea.

I will be hooking up my vinyl/paper cutter up to it. 5f9c250a7ccb65b58c74537392d6102f.jpg /snip/[/url]
Hey Shorty. I hope 2019 is treating you well. The shop is coming along nicely and I'm enjoying catching up on all the other things you have going on too. I'm guessing you don't sit around much!

The mention of a vinyl/paper cutter caught my attention. I'm not sure if I missed details about it earlier, but I was curious if this is something for cutting your own vinyl decals. That one capability I wish I had. If you mentioned it already, just point me to the right spot back in your thread so you don't have to repeat yourself.

Take care my friend.

Unfortunately there is too much sitting around but I did learn from the master as Craptain points out.

I picked up the vinyl cutter on Black Friday. I’ve been debating about getting one but with the newer model having pen and cutter capabilities, I jumped.
I got the Cricut Explore Air 2 in Ferrari yellow d56e2f4df4f6306b4c1a54646b1af629.jpg As you can see there are two holders, one for markers and one for cutters. I’ve been wanting to make vinyl decals for awhile and to label tool boxes. With the marker capability, I can use the markers on the label inserts used on the tool cabinets.

During the week I was able to get the vintage Craftsman bandsaw table bracket welded back together along with getting the second shelf pan bent. Thanks John.
Friday afternoon I installed the bottom pan that I painted with bed liner and hammertone. 32f30f2709617602de51c1a45c21f5fa.jpg and started prepped parts for my e-tank. The parts all come from the scrap bin. Here are the top hooks for anode(?)b4df5aaa49d3037ba00d9a9f9b0e0bcc.jpg
On the way home, I made a stop. As I attempted to get back into my truck, the door handle appeared broken. Errrr! 53d0054ae15a589ae4500608e416bf36.jpg A quick search of the web showed me the problem so off to the GM dealer for a new door handle. Looking at the handles, they’re definitely designed to fail sooner than later. 47f4bc1eead37815bb4c7c4f7b6313ec.jpg It was a one hour task (thanks YouTube/A1 Auto). 24 hrs later, the door handle won’t work. Did the handle break already? Pulling the panel off revealed a clip came unlatched. Whew! I 7d20d655cad7defc5fea21bfe3d896af.jpg Hopefully my zip tie keeps things clipped.

I cleaned up the Craftsman bandsaw and mounted the table back on. 70e88b6615d2ca1c975ddc37222deef1.jpg234416906f797f6bef3af0d8ecef06fb.jpg It’s now ready for a For Sale sign.
I also welded the pieces for the e-tank. bd270c53fded86b6e9e93fc3f9d0cbfa.jpg I need to sand the paint off the flat bar and wire the leads up. Because of the weld fumes, I decided to have a fan ventilate the work area. This leads me to the first safety lesson of 2019. Or is this the second? With welding completed, I kept smelling something stanky. Oops, smoke. It appears the ventilation transferred some weld sparks over to a rag 12” away. Fire! I’m on fire!73513e068b7402b921c903c29f70ac32.jpg. A twofer Safety tip? I might need to start charging for my wisdom.

With the pending swap meet, I have a tub of tools that need sorting, cleaning or tossing. Here’s the ready to sale items 2c7e6dcd3c3da0b7ae1d98e64ca420c4.jpg the recycling pile f0926b334890c154aab250856f47287d.jpgand the boy these are rusty but useable pile. 7436c41023f3952eac406e36b68fb5e4.jpg. I’m trying out the Apple Cider Vinegar method for rust removal. While that is stewing, I fit the upper shelf tray for the weld cart. I rolled the sides and notched for the tank. 1c38c9adf5425d5230ec175b3eb86b4b.jpg With my now extensive metal shaping experience, send me your projects. They might not look professional but the fee will be.
Today, I checked out my vinegar stew. After 24 hrs, the bottom pile turned out really well. The upper pile could use some more time. 7214209436767d3121c048534419c92e.jpg

Is it back to work time already?

Nice score on the vinyl cutter. So many uses. The bandsaw is also coming along nicely.

I can definitely second your safety council. Especially having caught fire last weekend thanks to wearing a shirt that was more poly than cotton while doing some particularly heavy grinding. Being unseasonably hot right now, I've taken to wearing shorts in the shed and suffering quite badly from weld spatter falling in behind the tongues of my boots.

Standing right up to the workbench with my feet under it seems to help. :lol_hitti

Guys, I think I see what a Shorty is up to.

With the SL needing a finish, I'm thinking he's going to do some wild flame design and decal the car:lol_hitti:lol_hitti:beer:

Looks like you are Tooo busy to come road test the vette Huh

Oh well The band saw looks just like mine ca I send it over to be freshened up.

Not too busy for safety test drives. Guess I can bring band saw back when I’m done with my inspections.

Those Zip Ties sure can be a saving thing some time.

I hope it holds. A week in and all is well.

The cutter will have many uses. Software isn’t too bad but still a lot to learn.
Welding in shorts? Isn’t that the proper attire? Works for me. Lol.

No wild flame design on SL. Wait, I do have an airbrush and there’s youtube videos. Might be a good practice canvas. I need to get out to Don’s to get some spray lessons.

On a side note, yesterday was spent doing a form of community service. The maker’s space is moving and needed help. Good news for me is the new location is just around the corner from me. Tools that I’d like to use/learn to are wood lathe, cnc router, mill, 3D printer and laser etching. An unexpected benefit to helping out is a discovered a retired machinist has a shop next door to the makers space. I believe they said he will teach individuals to use a lathe and mill.

Great idea. Light my pants on fire so I can say I worked like my pants were on fire.
Stewart, I thought it was "Liar, liar, pants on fire!" In any case, please keep any pictures of yourself with your pants on fire in a locked and private folder. I don't want to see you banned from the Garage Journal.

Nice of you to spend a little time for the community
Or was that time served for a civic violation?? lol

You hit the nail on the head Don. To keep his name and picture off the news, this was a option to perform a public service.

Not for sure, but through the grapvine I heard something about burning shorts ( both outer and inner) and hot slag in his flip flop. As you can imagine, a lot going on at one time and quick action needed, I guess the nearest water was outside in front of shop, so he's out there hopping around, yelling while pulling his drawers out so water can be sprayed, right at the same time a kindergarten bus drove by:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Thank god there's no pictures.

I’m not a member since I have the shop and it’s $50/month. I believe you can pay $10 for a one time visit.
Wednesday nights are open house so you can see what they have.
https://m.facebook.com/Making-Awesome-Tallahassees-Makerspace-318996904895110/

They have cnc router, table saw, lathe, planer, bandsaw, Kreg jig setup, DP and hand power tools. If you like instructing, I believe they welcome that also.

Sounds identical to my local makerspace. One of these days I will go to the open house there.
Instructors get free or maybe subsidized membership. But I don't consider myself good enough to instruct. Not to mention that my shop is better equipped, except for the 3d printer.
I actually found them when I was looking for information on my mill and Google found them looking for the same information.

You're qualified, haven't you heard the adage "those who can't, instruct". :lol_hitti That's always been my excuse.
