Shorty

I'm sure glad that I line in So Cal and not in Tallahassee,

Your paint project is giving me withdrawals

But it's lookin good

Just need to plan a pickin’ trip for Southern Georgia and stop by for a quick fix.

Geez, I tossed a couple dozen of those darkroom timers in a dumpster about 40 years ago when we relocated our camera repair business back in NY. Filled 3 10-yarders with outdated camera, projector, and darkroom parts my father had accumulated over the years ….. hmmm, starting to see how I ended up on GJ.

If we only had our own Spruce Goose hanger to store the stuff we’d like to save for one day.

Wow progress on the SL [emoji106]

Surprise, surprise, surprise.

The primer looks great! That is one cool timer too

Thanks. There’s some tiger stripes but not bad.
It is a cool timer. Hard to believe it took this long to use it.

First off, fire the draftsman for not including all the dimensions.
Second, add the round bosses for the set screws then try some casting.
That looks great Andy. Even the recessed area looks prefect.
I appreciate you taking the time to do this.

Looking back at your photo, I really like the composition. Two thumbs up.

The Mrs. went on her annual sister’s beach trip. Since my calendar was clear Thursday and Friday, I decided who wants to be at work.
I made an agreement to clear out a shop and I could have what I cleared out.
Here’s the first load. 3d890ac87c01d97598125e487435cf7c.jpg stuff on top went to the dump. The rest went to the shop where the lumber will become a better table saw workstation. I think the vacuum will be used for onboard dust collection. 1dc16d93c7241d2142a2ab5b40300e56.jpg
Second load went to a friend that was needing lumber to enclose the space between his barn and shipping container. 6b2e32d4e67345e66e1cbbd9a3aa5ad7.jpg
Do you know how heavy 2x12x16’ boards are. Heavy as hell. Luckily only one slipped but only got my shin. Of course toes are always protected by Florida Safety Shoes. 01202cae00ab6d3274458c029fb1048b.jpg
Next load was more lumber, an air compressor I hope runs, a couple of seats, a vise and some miscellaneous stuff. 9703e8914a98a75279b2153d8ad37fd8.jpg
The last little bit was cleared out this morning. 1275350567cfd876738bfd22f100febd.jpg Looking at the space, I see a decent woodworking shop....filled with my tools. Ummm, if I get it in there before they move here, I might be set. Lol.

Your've been busy shorty, just had 4 pages or so to catch up on.

If you paste the month as a heading on the hooter girl photos you can post them every month

Thanks for stopping in. Unfortunately I don’t have a calendar. I’ll have to see about going to Hooters once a month for lunch. [emoji16]

Between injured back, the crud, global warming, holidays, work and vacation trips, I’ve finally stopped by the shop today. I got a couple of goodies at auction and they will be added to the project list. I think 967, 968. Ummmm?
My shop time may be limited because when I was going into the shop area, I ran across this sign on the door. 3feedba3dd79dacbe631c85769ca67ab.jpg
Guess I’ll have to make do with the house garage.

Thanks for stopping in. The “toilet off” note is to remind my CRS self that I shut the water supply to toilet off before going on my two trips.

BajaScout, those would be cheaper. One was to Alabama coast and the other was to Richmond VA. Did make it over to Charlottesville.

I was there for a family reunion. Definitely a nice area. Really enjoyed Monticello 03a65ba9ddb9d6a490a22ccd6e100cb7.jpg and learning about the innovative ideas Jefferson came up. I tried hanging out with him but he ignored me. ef1f9add8b3e16c0335bac12fbb32bbd.jpg
The Science Museum at Richmond’s version of Grand Central was great. A museum with anvils can’t be all bad. 979557bdbb36602562f0c77f440b90a0.jpg

I really need to catch up. As mentioned earlier, the last several months haven’t been conducive to QST.
In May we had an outside patio and sidewalk put in. Ended up having sidewalk place where I had originally wanted it, against the garage. With that, the gate (placed in wrong spot) needed relocating.
0fc40d66a7384598b7960a522399610e.jpg
I had to narrow the gate. Being cheap and lazy, I cut the existing one down. 6dcee719b2af37ab1f1f562691e0e374.jpg. The rest of the fence boards were just slapped up temporarily so we could go on vacation. Couple of weeks ago, the new boards were installed with screws, latched installed and sealed. 26c1f6accffa71243d4940abff32825c.jpg I really enjoy having the sidewalk in place since I park outside. This fall will be planting of shrubs and ground cover inside fenced area.

This past weekend was the first productive weekend I’ve had in 3 months. An unexpected project was replacing the wife’s 2 yr. old battery. Note to self: no more NAPA batteries. In five years this is the 3rd premium battery. Also they prorate from very first month and on full list price. Also I have to drive to the other side of town.
On a positive note, while over there, I remembered to stop in the tire store that use to be our Texaco. Boy has it changed. Found out both ends have been added on to. Here’s a shot of the lift bays. 93c0c21e101b934a17d86d9232e29a48.jpg Surprisingly there was even a section of a belt/hose rack still on the wall. 76062037c6fdd0fd6292ae43889a0d94.jpg. Brought back some bitter sweet memories.

Another task accomplished was cabinet Tetris. My friend Ed gave me a bench I thought would be great in home garage. 72cad1d673dab43db440d9c3d349e7b1.jpg The 3D printer is set up on it. This space will be used for model building, air brushing and printing.
The two blue two drawer file cabinets that were the shop desk are now in the garage. The two green Lista’s that were the home work bench are now at the shop. ac422c76278445b2a6eabf603512d52a.jpg
The laptop cabinet also made it to the shop finally. ec11d49b60355f50fc200fc7b85b3963.jpg
The 1” belt sander will live on top and all my sanding consumables (sheets, disc, belts) will go inside. It sits to high so hopefully I’ll get the 5” casters swapped for 2” this weekend.
My ADD was in high gear too. I went from working on this 11563669787c206c6303b64b2ca15ec9.jpg (started in May) to cutting up this office sorting shelf, 7d2b366f1c2405dd42d5108a9aa3d17d.jpgto cutting up 2x4s that were on the floor for another started project to looking at hanging a new shop ceiling fan to cutting this real estate sign up for a project for my wife. a552b041b97b9ab2eae4e78845d0ee84.jpg
They all only take a few minutes, right? All of them started, none of them finished. Ummm?
To top the weekend off, John (Toolfool) and his wife treated us to a tasty dinner. It was the treat. GJ is a collection of some really great people.

Bears, running around like a chicken. Thanks on fence. It is a nice improvement. Mine required flying but glad I went. With just a two mile drive, more QST.

Craig I think you’re right. Ft. Myers to Tallahassee and to home and back, I think I might be about 90% of Gerard’s record. With the casters coming off, I won’t break the record though.

At work yesterday I decided to make a to-do list so I wasn’t bouncing around like last weekend. 4a7ecdce85179790e160802ae402be41.jpg
First on list was to troubleshoot powered recliner. We had a thunderstorm and the chair stopped working. Luckily it was the power supply so I robbed the one from the couch until the replacement gets here. Happy wife.....
Next goal was to make a scrap metal run. Some of the parts I cleaned out of Toolfool’s shop, I was thinking I could sell. Thinking soundly, a bench seat and stock front drum brakes probably aren’t in high demand. 7a66e9c0338af6a41ffdf230c6560ba3.jpg
It took some time to strip the seat and headrest. bbfb0b1c273a7030495f8a33d349cd33.jpg Disassembling a seat was new for me so I learned how it went together. I thought I was dealing with 70 Chevelle stuff but found this tag on the seat. b3989cfb12354564cd1743d121711b84.jpg Boy, mice and rat turds show up everywhere.
I’ve always wondered how headrest are built. Took these apart so I could get the SS flat bar.
a36722b9a3c071eb84b2827392816afb.jpg
In hindsight, I should have left them intact and made shop stools. Lol. 26b6bb1f14c5660fe75b8714839e44db.jpg
At 10am this morning I looked like this. 250391c0b583fd8d92e06f4c7eb32cce.jpg This was in the shade. Love me some Florida, heat and all.

And final project of the day was to move all the swap meet boxes and totes that were blocking the SL up to the loft where they will be ready to take to Flywheelers in February. ccf3b5629a5432150e645ce59292e4e2.jpg
