Jim always a good visit. Glad y’all finally got to meet. You have definitely been busy and all your projects look great. Look forward to seeing the vanity when it is completed.

After spending time at Jim’s what would be better on a nice afternoon than some QST. 8da9e3ab9cc8a786f633bb515a5de274.jpg
With the panels up, first order of business was the lift leak. I lifted the arms up and secured it with the safety bar. With a better view of the cylinder base and flashlight in hand, I hit the up button. I was thinking the cylinder or fittings were the problem but turns out it it was the quick disconnect. Have a pair on the way.
With the lift repair on hold, I decided to relocate the chemicals cabinet further into the shop.
I’ve wanted my air/tire stuff by the door, under the hose reel. This is what I’ve been using.

I also wanted to store the impact and lug sockets in the same cab so off to my hoarders loft. I have a cab from our NAPA store that I used in the old shop. Perfect. 4e7c56101b443415f8998d9674d1574b.jpg I put all the small parts in an organizer. 685c7a2f1f04adfcdaeb26ef1395be48.jpg
This corner is shaping up nicely.

I feel like I’ve been on the road more than in the shop. First was the road trip to the North Florida Erection Workshop. Then a friend invited me over to do a garage sale. He had tools, I had my wife’s stuff that was taking up space in the garage. fa76fb0c107e5fcf23569271f3d74c48.jpg productive day for both. If you’re in need of a hossfeld bender with a lot of dies, he’s your guy. Next trip was a short drive to the local beach for some QWT. Gotta love being able to get a tan in October. 3db993be285099b3275ee2fc656441f2.jpg Next trip was the run down to Craptains. Wonder why these trips leave my pockets empty? Wasn’t 5 miles into the trip and a guy pulls out in front of me. I’m watching him because he’s going slow. I change to the inside lane only to find a dining room chair in the middle of the road. WTF!!!! It was still dark so the next place that had lights, I stopped to check the damage. Surprisingly just superficial marring from the wood chair. 6f085d0c7b43a33dd1d74fa08f75c407.jpg.

Now some QST.
Here’s the second part of my school auction purchase. 4c173ea05d6351675025273ddb3e5729.jpg Sure is a nice looking car. [emoji15]
Also had some more Sanford picks, a riding mower and the base of a HD electric wheel chair. 93866090a7fd16d3dc5445fe1db258d9.jpg Both were free and I need a project. Got some cool ideas for both.
The rolling base that came off the laptop/sander cart has been completed. 5147d207597fde1f004ab85c264875ab.jpgOnly had to trim one side by about a half inch. 1733b079cb2c75ba6fd65be930f60945.jpg and has been put into action. d5e03924ce4e97d94d2d502ebfcfd461.jpg The heavy **** Di-Arco 24” finger brake came from Craptain so thank you Andrew.

Next up was setting up the O/A tanks that Craig/CBAcres picked up for me. He sold me torch and cart awhile back so with tanks and new hose, I was ready to try something new, burn metal. I’ve torched skin but not metal. cb91ca6c1eae34407194aa60295e642e.jpg watching a great video plus trial and error, I was able to cut off the sharp points. Can’t have anything sharp around the shop.

Yesterday was productive day. Did some clean up, also found out the SL battery no longer will charge. Figures that would happen since I decided to get back on it.
To knock out a project, I worked on the grinder stand. Designed for import grinders but two Baldor now have to fit. 070b923e3aaeae102c54d32a390ed33a.jpgFirst up was a make shift blasting area. Note to self: send items to Don for blasting. a1e9dea35116e7249a5bfb2052b79db1.jpg next time a large tarp will be used. Stand blasted 2213b71a519e49e35172a715bb542fc9.jpg and painted 1832e78d105b5f407309189184805df4.jpg See..... I do paint.

The top for the grinders needed to be widen. 4d5c563370d46d4d4143ebb08ca2e9b3.jpg only had the pieces for one end. When welding, I need to work on running a straight line efa508fe5ba115c092dc3461f01edc60.jpg thankfully there’s side grinders.

The almost finished product. 3679a6dfc1faaacc352e042c902d874d.jpg

And what would be a day in the shop without at least one safety lesson. 4429aa9bc4ac1a36926fd6f5738017e4.jpg the lesson being if I had worn Florida Safety Shoes, this wouldn’t had happened. Lol.

Hey, you've been BUSY . Stand looks good.

Trying to be. It was nice to get a day in the shop. Stop in, I’ll find something for you to do. [emoji16]

Thanks, like new and great price. Was buying the wheel but laptop/sand cart is turning into the real prize.

You got some nice new toys Shorty! They look heavy too. Please don't drop them on your foot.

English wheel looks nice... did it come with the other rollers?

If it's not leaking it's not running. So Shorty is like a Ford? :lol_hitti

They are heavy and awkward. I am amazed how heavy the brake is even with some pieces not being attached. There’s still a 2” thick piece of scrap plate in back of truck that needs unloading. You busy?
The wheel is like new (but surface rust from being in truck bed). I did get all the rollers. Next step is getting it trued per some YouTube vids.

If you're not bleeding, you're not working.

Nice stand.

True, real men bleed. Lol.
Thanks.

Today was a good day. Time I rolled outside, it was a warmish feeling 51°. I removed the mower deck off the riding mower and reseated one of the tires that had the bead broken. Next up was starting up the Tahoe after a 11 month hibernation. Time for vehicle Tetris.
A big accomplishment was a start on the loft clearance project. The boss and I were able to remove about ten boxes and totes. See some open space feels good.
I was also able to get the wings welded on the grinder stand, finish the paint and get both grinders mounted. I brought both about 5 yrs ago, but with a new plug, the grey one purrs like a kitten. 446ba309185f3f3c94255aa7a2723a6b.jpg it is amazing how smooth they run.

After seeing your blasting skills ,ya send um over lol :lol_hitti

So nice grinder stand but, not sure about sending all the grinding slag over to the other grinder. Any problems with that?

I had a guy working for me as the shop handy maintenance man and he would say hope I cut myself early today so I won't have to worry about it the rest of the day cause he knew it would always happen.

Great project. Glad to see you taking advantage of our cooler weather.

Doesn’t the weather feel great. Definitely taking advantage of. Hope you are too.

Nice grinder stand. Glad you liked my idea. [emoji16]

Thanks. One thing I didn’t point out is the top plate is attached to a round pipe so if the stand is against the wall, you just pivot the top.

I’ll be sending the stand on the truck drum your way. Lol.

When I built this 10 years ago, I was using regular hobby bench grinders. Looking at the side shot, I realized the same thing, dust shooting out the back. If I only knew someone that’s good with metal?

Another beautiful day and successful QST. One of my goals this weekend was to get the SL out into the sunlight. Mission accomplished with help from my wife and neighbors. d5b2344b1b78f57d94b11b5e8ee90521.jpg
She’s waiting on the transport truck to pick her up and take her to Bob’s house.....or someone to steal her. Lol.
Not sure when the last time this bay was clear of a Mercedes. Note to self: just because you’re 100% German doesn’t mean you should own das Automobil.
With the SL out of the way, a quick spark plug check on this gas powered compressor was in order. Cleaned the plug and the fuel bowl and the engine started right up. Gotta love a Honda. Still have a couple of things to check before putting up for sale. ba4ff8819267545a7e1c417c4662c279.jpg
Also completed the car Tetris. Time for the Tahoe to get a little love by parking it inside. 470d1705f2329dde4ba67022b925fe40.jpg13b7113f490057b73b2131ae5797f207.jpg
Finished the day by taking the babies to the dog park to play.

Your right on loving that Honda. And they will run for a long time if you keep the oil changed and the alcohol away from the carb.

It’s moved, the SL moved. That’s a big step. Glad you the compressor running. Did the pilot valve work?

When you’re on a roll, keep on rolling. Another productive day and with great weather. The day started at Hardee’s, reading Garage Journal. GB commented on how nice the Milwaukee soldering iron was. Since I was headed to HD for a plug and contact cement, I checked it out. I’ll see if Santa can get me one since it appears to be totally safe for me to use. 66d3b6d2677af0bea260ce72950b5b41.jpg
Since everyone likes cobbler, I decided to be a cobbler. The contact cement was for my first attempt at shoe cobbling. e4040b47043f60f757ea13c1038e3764.jpg I’m just glad the customer is mom. Lol.
Next customer was my wife needing an oil change. I thought I had cut the oil drain pipe short enough for my the MaxJax, not! Another quick trip to the band saw61436b4bdce4e26a2f488a20ee0199ff.jpg with the oil change complete, we headed upstairs to purge more stuff. Two Christmas trees, a door and a 2’x8’ shelf created more space. The shelves 2x4’s and 1/2 ply were saved for later use and the original bathroom door from whse PO, ed7f349ba8f03801cb7a2289bdd5a5dd.jpg was cut up to claim as much Baltic Burch ply as I could. e4b17ded2620eeff2c62bf94f4bcfcfc.jpg.
Next on the list was temp casters on the English so it could be shuffled around easier. Also finished up with the gas air compressor. Cleaned out a drain valve and all is good. 202d711ea4a6dde49bed73bd199177e3.jpg If you know anyone needing a gas air compressor......

Ended the day pulling this motor from the 8” tablesaw I got from Emeraldcoupe. 853639d37fff401b897ce24692df32e4.jpg runs smooth. The saw and base were cleaned and ready for sale or the scrap bin. 79a02aba438b5b5f82caaacb0f0f3617.jpg ....and tomorrow is another day.
