My post on one side has big cracks. The build is about 5 years old.

I agree, the bigger issue to me is the attachment or lack there of.
Will the post fail if not secured, most likely not. But if it gets bumped by a car pulling in... attachment may we what keeps it in place.

Probably fine but if it were mine I'd probably fill those larger checks with polyurethane glue and draw it back together with some long structural screws spaced maybe a foot apart but alternating from each side.

If you don't want look of screws pin and glue it with large dowels, maybe 1" - 1-1/2" diameter.

Either bumped by a car, or earth movement. OP is in the Pacific Ring of Fire.

Screws aren't going to pull that check back together, it might actually make it more weak with all the holes you just drilled in it. A dowel is going to do nothing

Those cracks are “checks”. Lumber grades have a maximum specified size of checks. As long as you have the correct lumber grade, or the checks don’t exceed grading standards, you’re good. The notching however is suspect.
