I'm a Rheem/Rudd guy... Personally. We build Copeland Scrolls... They go in all major Mfg units. Bryant, Carrier, Lennox, Trane, ect... All good units... Install is 90%+...

I have had 2 Amana Strait cool with gas furnaces for 16 years. I had to get a new unit so I went with Amana again. They have the best warranty in the business and they seem to be very well built.

The builder grade models typically had less expensive components. Since not many compressor manufacturers -- they all came form the same factories. The compressors were not much different between various builder models.

Many came with no sensors for overheat or pressure -- so if the cheaper fan motor failed or the unit was running low on refrigerant -- the compressor kept on pumping -- until it's death.

There's nothing wrong with an r22 condensing unit, theres plenty of them out there running strong.
As long as the guy knows what he's doing there's no reason it shouldnt run trouble free for 15 years with basic maintenance just like any 410a system should.
There will be drop in replacements available for r22 for a long tim

In fact...they perform (refrigerant wise) better and trouble shoot easier.

If you can keep it maintained I would stick with R22...

In fact the word is r410a is going to be phased out in the future as well.

That "amana" is a Goodman, they bought them a few years back. In fact the Goodman equipment uses that tooling now which was quite an improvement.

HVAC efficiency and longevity is 90% installation workmanship. In the event of failure, most brands have a 10yr parts warranty if registered. I'd worry more about your HVAC guy's skills and ethics than brand of equipment.

I keep seeing this type of thing quoted here and there.

Besides cleanliness of Brazing/Soldering. What else in an installation makes any difference in longevity of the components?

For starters, using the correct unit for the space requirements, properly sizing duct work, using the correct size line set, flowing nitrogen while brazing, proper placement of equipment, pulling a deep vacuum, and proper amount of refrigerant. There are more, but here's some of the things that can be easily (read too lazy or not enough knowledge to do right) overlooked.
