Druder - Did you paint the trim or just remove it? I’m on my iPhone and it’s hard to tell.

edit: I can see it’s removed. Was it destroyed in the process because that would answer some questions about repainting mine.

In one of the redesigns they started to crimp the backside which is good for the people who complained that they practically slid off on their own. It meant more effort on my part and they all took a little paint with them on the backside and a few scratches on the front. I have no doubt I could get them back on though and none were damaged doing it. I planned to put some vinyl in their place, a little more subtle two tone but I may wait now that I see the look.

That's what I watched before doing mine, I WISH it were that easy with the crimps. I got my box two weeks ago so your results may vary.

Re: Just joined the HF 44" club

I just bought a mini-lathe and needed somewhere to put it. I could have left it on the work bench, but it provided a great excuse to buy a new tool box. :p

No drawer pics, nothing to see except a few pieces of lathe tooling, the tail stock and a steady rest from the lathe.

UPDATE: I added two end cabinets:

Then a formica covered top:

No garage here in my rented 2 bedroom apartment. So I improvised, adapted and overcame. Who needs a 2nd bedroom for 1 person? :lol_hitti

Here's a video on the HF 44" drawer trim removal by Garage Journal member Firworks:

Thanks again!

Guys, removing the trim is easy. Here’s how I did it. I used a nylon trim removal tool to pry the aluminum trim forward and slid it the length of the drawer. Then just push down with your hands firmly.

It also can be slid back on if you change your mind later or when your done painting.

My brother used to bite the clamp type lead fishing weights to open them and close them with his teeth when we were younger and went fishing, but that was before they found out lead was toxic, so far he has no ill effects
Heck, I have done that,/Do that
haven't been fishing in a while never thought of that.
Didn't think it could affect you that fast/easy/
what about soldering with old lead solder many of us still have around?

Hf 44" with side drawers. 2 years working. went from mechanic to home use. Actually love the depth now due to my small garage. Planning to buy another to put next to it & move the drawer unit outside of the work bench.
