Why not just save the picture to your puter and then print out the picture and cut out the coupon :D.

For the guys that have repainted the drawer fronts black, did you strip the powder coat off first or paint over top of it?

I've done exactly that a number of times especially for the free clamp coupon. A couple times they commented but never refused. YMMV :)

Here's an unusual configuration of a 7 drawer side box and a service cart. I just had to notch the lid in two spots to make it close properly.

@Vettman: How has that 7 drawer side cart affected the tool cart in its ability to remain level or stable? Is it full and do you attempt to counterbalance the cart in anyway?

Vettman, did you run a bolt or two between the side box and the cart? I'm thinking maybe of doing the same thing.

so what your saying BWW_mnm is that if you have a HF insider club membership the price for the box is $329.99? does this just happen at the register when they ring it up ?

I lightly sanded mine with 600 grit sand paper. Then I wiped the drawers down with paint thinner, taped the areas I didn't want painted, and sprayed rustoleum primer. Then I painted two coats of black, and one coat of clear coat. It took a weekend to do but, wasn't too bad.

Really wish I didn't put stickers on my box right away, and painted it instead :( The first couple stickers I put on, i had to pay for.

No bolts, it just hangs from the top edge of the service cart. It's pretty heavy, so it's not going anywhere. Two thin notches have to be cut on the lip of the service cart lid so that it closes properly.

Box was received in Aug. Thankfully before the coupon debacle.
It's pretty much empty right now though. Just a few wrenches. Once the Cman starts overflowing, the tools will start going in the HF.

I do like the idea of having all of my sockets in the top drawer of the HF.
As opposed to this:

Side note: Wifey bought me the 2-shelf side cabinet for the HF for Xmas (Rain check)

GAbeancounter, I would like to buy a couple of those, maybe even 3 or 4 if they become available again.

Scout Guy,
You are pretty close. Those lockers came out of a Army base. I bought like 40 of those cabinets and been selling them on CL. I have sold all of them but hope to get some more in by the end of the month. Here is a link that I posted about them for sale on GJ.

I got a similar deal a few months back. My local salvation army had about 10 wall lockers from the Navy base in Charleston in the store for $10 each so I picked out the nicest 4 and put them in the shop. I haven't had time to paint them or put in shelves yet but man on man are these things heavy and well built. One of the lockers had a broken latch mechanism so I emailed the company that built them who are out of Texas a picture and they sent me a entire new latch for free.

Man, that was an awesome deal. You should have got them all and sold the rest.

I only painted one cabinet. Took two days, rolling on two coats, sanding etc. Looks like the exact same hardware. There is a lock nut on the back of that handle and two little set screws. Just take it apart re-tighten and it should be good. About 1/2 of cabinets needed handle work. Most of the time just a little snugging of the lock nut was all it took.

Dlc, run down before scout man gets them lol.

Well, this is my first ever tool box, I am a weekend wrencher, and have just started my tool collection in the past year. I pretty much buy what I need for the job once it comes around. I buy alot of metric because that is mainly what I need for my car and my wife's. I have been lurking and talking with quite a few guys on here as I was going back and forth between the Griplatch from Sears and the 13 Drawer from HF. I picked it up this past Saturday, and I am VERY happy with it so far. I think all of MechanicnamedJohn threads really sold me on this box....not to mention this thread!

Enjoy the pics!

Here are a few pics of my humble collection. Next on my list is a SO 3/8 F80...anyone got one for sale :D

Blue tape is basically my markings. I have a 97 E36 M3 and I am on another forum with a bunch of local guys who work on their BMW's too (saves alooooooot of money ) So we usually get together alot and help each other work on cars....well at the end of the project, I want to make for damn sure that all the tools I came with are coming home with me, so I mark them with blue tape (very easy to spot) That way, when we are putting away tools, all the guys know that blue tape tools are MINE. I also knew that I would be buying a starter set of tools from Craftsman, and maybe selling them in the future if I get nicer ones....so this way I don't have to etch, engrave, mark my tools which (in some people's eyes) brings down the re-sale value.

Anyone have any better ideas than my current system? I'm always open to ideas. It seems to have worked well so far, in fact I left a ratchet at my buddy's place, and he texted me to let me know I left it there, and he only knew that because of the blue tape. Seems to work......so far.

All the sockets used to be in a 118 pc Cman tool set, so I would always just make sure all sockets were back in their home before I left, that's why there is no tape on them.

Here's a HF Service Cart that I bought ($108 out the door with a coupon) and put together last week. It's as sturdy as my other 5 Craftsman tool chests and boxes, if not more so. It has more than enough room for the tools I use when working at the vehicle. I'm still putting tools in it and getting it organized.

I wished I'd bought it a couple of years ago.

Here is my only HF box. Its a side cabinet that I did have mounted to my Stainless box. I found that I really didn't like it there so I drilled and mounted it under my workbench. (The bench is much cleaner in the picture than it is right now for sure!) Mostly it holds woodworking supplies, extra screwdrivers, drill bits and lathe tools. I've had it for about 2 years. It seems to be holding up pretty well. My only real issue is closing the drawers. You really have to push them hard to get them to latch. Rollers work fine and the size, for what I use it for, is just right.

Found a picture of it on my SS box.

Spray paint them comes off with carb spray.

So the best deal around is the $350 coupon for the HF us general 13 drawer box?

How does the HF members track or whatever work anyway?
