You guys got me excited but it's the same overpriced stuff as always. I mean, 357$ for the same extra long dbe ratcheting set that everyone also sells for well under 200?? What am I missing
My post was in reference to people speculating that Napa may be doing away with Carlyle based on the lack of deals and their fb not being updated. I don’t think this flier possesses and amazing deals but my point was- if they were killing Carlyle, they probably wouldn’t be promoting it on the cover. But I do agree with you, they need to introduce “deals” again to stir up interest.

Nice collection. Did you stock up from user in the GJ classifieds?

Carlyle is trying to match tool truck pricing these days. The mountain double box ratcheting wrenches in this quarters real deals are $358. Matco is $365. :0
Indeed.

It's been quite some time since they've offered an actual "real deal".

I checked the Napa’s website again just to see if any of the Carlyle tools I’ve been searching for are back in-stock.

Nope.

They’ve been out-of-stock since before Covid. That’s more than two years.

Their social media presence has been dead since December 6th, 2021. There’s been no new product development like in years past.

I’m guessing they have a warehouse full of this stuff and the RealDeals is now a great way to offload it. My local NAPA’s counter person told me last time that I went in for a battery that the tools just sit and collect dust. Really a shame.

Which tools are you looking for? several like the 90 tooth flex head ratchets were discontinued. I don't think they're unloading much if any, Carlyle tools in the real deals flyer because, there aren't any real deals on Carlyle in the current Real Deals flyer despite celebrating the 10th anniversary of Carlyle tools :dunno:
To be fair, back in the day when there were tool boards of New Britain tools hanging behind the NAPA parts counter, They gathered dust too. I think all of the NAPA tools lines gather dust.
As for a lack of new product, there have been new Carlyle products but, they've moved into things like tool storage, jump packs, and lighting.

The tools don't gather dust @ my local Napa. They sell fairly quickly, @ least the hand tools do.
Tool sales have a much higher success rate if the purchaser can touch them before buying. I have a local Napa that keeps the tools behind the counter and they collect dust. I have another local Napa that has big Carlyle display cases that slide back and forth, barn door style and those tools do much better because the user can look at their leisure and can “ heft” them before buying. I have a bunch of old Proto tool mailers to dealers from the 50’s that discuss this very thing. Hence Proto introduced the “roto mat “ tool selling display and advised vendors to put them in high traffic areas so people could touch them and feel the quality

I just checked the Carlyle face book page and it hasn’t been updated in nearly a year. I messaged them and asked them what their plan for the page and Carlyle tools in general. I hope they will drop the prices to be more reasonable and hopefully fire up the fb page again. Whoever was in charge of that page was hilarious!

They have had some good Real Deals on Carlyle over the years. A lot of my chrome universal sockets and mid length sockets are Carlyle for around 50% retail. This was about 7 years ago, so I don’t know if the deals are still as good.

I agree that Carlyle is pretty expensive at retail. They have been great tools. I have zero regrets about buying them.

Other than the tool boxes (which look to be rebranded Homaks and are effectively out of stock across the board), there hasn't been a lot of new Carlyle lately. Even the Real Deals I've found lacking as of late.

It's a shame, because I have zero complaints about anything I've bought with the Carlyle name on it.

I really like them as well. No complaints for me either. I love their screwdrivers!

Those were nice ( I have a few) but I am talking about the modern ones . These are even better.
I have to agree with smokeshow69. I have been using the blue napa screwdrivers with no problems. Plus you can buy these screwdrivers in 3 different colors. Although @ this point I am still stuck on blue, LOL.

Blue was the cheapest and also has other sizes aside from the 8 in the set . The other colors don’t have the other various sizes aside from the 8 so my ocd would kill me if I needed to purchase additional ones 😉😂

If you happen to lose or need to warranty one, its much easier proposition to walk into a store and get replacement blue handle driver. This is if your local Napa stocks Carlyle at all.
My Napa does stock blue -handled screwdrivers, thankfully. But no single T-27 drivers , unfortunately.

I still have a lot of New Britain tools from my youth and still is sad that Litton Industries killed them off with non NAPA brand Blackhawk back in the day. We will see about them killing off Carlyle it seems as the bigger the company they have periods where they push tools and equipment and times when the ignore them. It does seem funny even though NAPA sells GearWrench they have NAPA sponsor Ron Capps funny car with GearWrench this year where he used to carry NAPA with Carlyle Tools sponsorship.

If we are going to bring New Britain into it.........NAPA has a checkered history with their tool lines. These New Britain made wrenches are my absolute favorite wrenches in my shop.

Those stubbies may look familiar.

Man, I just swung through Napa's website to check the price on a set of stubby ratcheting wrenches. Carlyle has always been expensive unless you caught a deal, but you best ******** your big-boy pants when you head over there these days. I don't know how they're selling ANYTHING with the Carlyle name on it these days. It's a shame...

I went to the NAPA store yesterday to pickup some windshield wiper blades and picked up the Real Deals newspaper that has a bunch of Carlyle tools listed but those prices are nearing Snap-ons.

Was reading this morning and came across a quote from a philosopher Thomas Carlyle: “ Man is a tool-using animal. Without tools he is nothing, with tools he is all.” Is this the origin of the Carlyle brand name? Kind of cool if so

I fear you might be giving the marketing folks a little too much credit :)

Is Carlyle a Napa brand?

I found an oil filter socket @ Napa for a VW Jetta. It fits on snugly. Sorry I don't have a picture. But it says Carlyle on the package. Part number is 77-2790.

I know that at one point Napa sold new Britain but this is the Carlyle thread? I think the guys on the new Britain thread would really like to see those. Have you posted those there? Pretty cool sets

Those New Britain tools are too nice for this thread :)

Not many people buying Carlyle anymore when Matco is cheaper (on some stuff) so we mostly sit around and complain about Carlyle here and remember when there were good sales once upon a time.

Napa use to have a Carlyle sale every year. Has that ended?
