Every Advance near me has their Gearwench stuff behind the counters.

Every Sears has all their sockets, ratchets, and wrenches locked up in cabinets.

Man am I glad the local Sears has everything just hanging. That's rediculous if they lock it all up. Like really? Hire a darn guard or something to watch over it, put a few cameras up, and leave it out. I guarantee that more people will spend money on tools that they can feel and touch than a "locked cabinet" approach. Or heck, put the tools in full view of the counter.

I don't know. You got me all miffed.

As far as I know the local NAPa doesn't have the new tools in yet so it's useless going there anyways. I went for a 3/8 bit socket a few weeks ago and they had almost nothing in the tool "space" back there.. very disappointing.

What do you guys want to see next? I've got a little extra money this week i think, i might be able to make another smallish order.

I'm pretty sure i'll be ordering a set of 1/2 drive metric deep and shallow sockets, as i'm about to put my Craftsmans up for sale.

I may actually grab some hammers. I'm sick of using the cheap old beat up **** i have.

Hiring guards makes prices go up, and you certainly don't want to pay MORE for chinese-made Craftsman tools, do you?

I don't have a single Chinese-made thing from Cman.. now let's just pray that I don't need to warranty anything

What I really want to see is how the open ends of those wrenches hold up. I'm really not interested in used SO, so these would be near the top of my list, next to Wright and SK. (Stahwille in my DREAMS!)

when I lived in ohio the sears had stuff locked up behind glass for longest time.... then a few years back they took off the glass door and it was left open.

A couple years back someone tried to steal a a flat screen TV at my wifes store. The shoplifter ripped it out of the nylon security straps, knocking other tvs over, and ran out the store with it. Security chased the shoplifter, the shoplifter threw the TV at security, missed and it landed on somebodies car causing damage, then once the shoplifter was subdued with the assistance of a police officer who just happened to be riding by, the shoplifter actually bit a couple people which required all the folks bit to have to undergo aids testing.

Who do you think had to pay for all of this? The criminal? Yea right, like they have any money to begin with.

So simply hiring a guard isn't going to stop some folks.

I had a buddy that worked in Loss Prevention at Sears. He said they don't have the power to do anything about it someone steals something other than to gather evidence and file a police report. He said the video cameras were so outdated that they couldn't move fast enough to track someone while they were walking.

I think your buddy is incorrect. It's actually a judgement call that is left up to Loss Prevention. I'm not aware of the specifics but they do have they ability to detain untill the police arrive, then turn them over

Obviously the incident I posted likely went past what the judgement parameters are, in the heat of the moment it's difficult to foresee how some things will escalate especially when someone is under the influence of illegal drugs

I had the local store order me the 90 tooth long handle 1/2" ratchet, part number CHT-R12L90, suppose to pick it up tm and I'll take a few pics for you guys.

I really needed a long handle 1/2" ratchet and I've had my eye on the snap on comfort grip dual 80 that list for 166 bucks, but couldn't ever make myself pull the trigger on buying it.
After reading this thread and a few others on here, I looked through the Carlyle book at Napa and the R12L90 looked impressive with 90 teeth, long handle and comfort grip for a list price of 80 bucks. Half price of the Snappy so I figured I'd try it out.
Also, the reason I'm comparing Carlyle to a tool truck brand, is that we don't have any trucks that stop by our store anymore, so if the Carlyle ratchet needed to be warrantied for any reason, just call up Napa and they'll bring a new one too me right then. No brainer IMO

Haven't gotten to use it much but first impression, the chrome is awesome. flawless even. The action is very smooth and will probably get smoother the more I use it. I've considered adding some lube in it to make it like silk but don't want to take it apart haha.

The three ratchets that I have bought look good as well. I've only used one of them slightly thus far. Only time will tell on the durability and longevity

Good looking ratchet!! I've been thinking of getting the long handled 1/2 drive myself. The 3/8 flex head and short 1/4 ratchet I have are still doing well daily at work. I think their 90 tooth ratchets are the best thing Carlyle has out right now. I still think they should put the NAPA logo on the plain ratchet head. I'd like them to get their open stock stubby wrenches out.

We didn't have stubby sets the last time I checked. In my neighborhood there aren't many open stock tools available. There are only one or two of the ratchets, a few wrenchs, and a few sets. Carlyle didn't open with an overwhelming presence but, I hope selection will grow and improve.

I bought the short comfort grip 1/4'' ratchet and the fit and finish is very nice. my only concern right now is that the action likes to bind up on occasion. I haven't taken the time yet to open it and lube it up so I don't know at this point in time what a little lube would do for the problem.

Kinda how my local napa is concerning the new tool line. A few ratchets, socket sets, screwdriver sets, pliers set, wrench sets.

I looked into buying a single six point wrench as there was some discussion in a previous thread about the position of the box end. I wanted to take a close look at one. The six point wrenches were not available as singles just yet even though they are listed in the database

I'm sure this is just a temporary thing.

The 3 ratchets I have bought thus far all seemed a little "stiff". I opened one and dropped in a little lube and it is real smooth now.

Besides opening it up to lube, I really wanted to take a peek on the inside

These sockets are awesome. Not a single flaw in either set. 10-24mm no skips.
