Here's my 1968 Rockwell 11 x 36 metal lathe. It was in a college shop since new. I've had it about 15 years, but actually just put it back together a week ago and started working on some Live steam projects again... Yes I need to clean up some, sorry

Picked this one up the other night
4b1f11492bd28deb0bf42e2496de0b34.jpg

It was poorly listed on eBay, in bits with the above terrible picture, hence generated little interest

As it was cheap and close I placed a bid and won. Once home loosely assembled it to see if it was complete - which it is. It came with a new old stock motor. A box of collets, counter shaft and box of tool holders

uploadfromtaptalk1436448573521.jpg

I've now started to clean it up and strip all the paint off.

Mikron were know for the quality of their casting and as much were originally sold in this state

The bed is model No 1, with a No 13 headstock, *@#$No 24 Capstan unit and a tool rest is a compatible part off a Schaublin.

Should have the other parts done in a week or so.

I picked up this Weiler Matador a few years ago. Just as PMD6's experienced, it was poorly listed on CL plus the fact that it wasn't a South Bend so no one knew what it was. I got it after it had been listed for a week without a response. Cosmetically challenged but it runs smooth as silk.

The Weiler Matador is a top line 12 x 20 toolroom lathe made in Germany. It came with 3 chucks, the factory C5 collet clamp set up and a full set of gears. The lead/feed can be powered by belt or gear. Spindle speeds from 36 to 3550 rpm (even came with a wood turning steady rest). It can do imperial, metric, acme threads (all left or right hand) and several other thread types that I never heard of. So many levers that I had to make a diagram of what each one does and hang it on the wall.

[/IMG] 12x36 Shop Fox. It replaced a Taiwanese 12x36 Shen Wai which I used to make parts so it would work. got lucky and sold it for more than I paid for the Shop Fox with literally zero hours:)

This old Hendy engine lathe is one of my late Grandfathers. Just today I was learning on the Hamilton that sits 15 feet away from it.

My 1956 South Bend lathe - picked up at estate sale for $150 with the bench and a big box of tooling. Everything works on it. I recently took the head unit apart to install a new rubber drive belt, and haven't finished putting it all back together yet.

I got lucky and after months of looking I found this lathe basically in my backyard for super cheap. it was basically brand new and had only been used to clean up crank journals before I got it. The leadscrew had literally never been used. I cleaned the dust off and gave it an oil change and I have basically a brand new lathe.

My Clausing.

I would like to upgrade to something with a bit more swing height but it does the trick for now.

I paid scrap price for it from an old employer. I set it on the pallet scale with a forklift, called the recyclers and asked what "mixed" was going for that day, did the math and handed over $48.

Aj, what would you consider "cheap" for a machine like that? It looks very nice.

As posted on the 2015 Garage Sale thread, I sold my South Bend lathe to a buddy so I could buy this 12" Craftsman Commercial lathe, a re-badged Atlas, with a 54" bed. I got $300 for the South Bend lathe, double what I paid for it, and which also happened to be my purchase price for the Craftsman lathe. Here's some more of what I got for my $300 (no You ***** necessary, got plenty of those on the other thread :) )

I didn't see your question before, but here you go.
I gave 3 K for it, but it came with 3 quick change tool posts a bunch of tool holders and a pile of other tooling.

While I was fixing my Dutch Lindeteves lathe, I was able to buy a Swiss Schaublin 120TR so couldn't resist. Now I have 2 vintage lathes so I'll probably will sell the Lindeteves...
