Mine is a Grayson 3.5in. Probably dates from the 1950s

The counter shaft / motor mount is a mock which will be replaced by a frabricated version once I have found some light weight pulleys

You didn't specify wood or metal...

This was my first, a 9x20 that I got from a company that never used it. It was still strapped to the shipping pallet and coated in cosmoline when I picked up.

Sold that a few years ago and upgraded to a 12x36 for pretty much the same price. Compound needed a little work to get it shipshape but can't complain. This is the day I picked it up.

Since added a 5c collet closer, Dickson/Rapid style QCTP and considering a DRO later this year.

I bought this jem for 80 bucks at an auction several years back. It's an atlas 618 with timken bearings and came with a set of jacobs commutator chucks. It took along time to get it functional, I had to wire a switch into the motor, source a chuck, and get a tool post for it.

This is right after I bought it.

And it's final resting place. I've stripped it down since this picture, painted a few small parts and cleaned it up. But you get the idea. I also got an older huot top and bottom box that I have on top and underneath the table for storage.

Here is my too-big-for-my-shop Sheldon 10" x 64" bed. It's a bit underpowered with the 1/2 hp motor but I have a 3/4 hp Walker Turner that will go on it one of these days.

I just bought this one

The lathe has been used for wood working thats why it came with a homebuildt rest.
I will only be using it for metal when I have cleaned out the wood chips  - already have a lathe for wood

The counter shaft / motor mount is a mock which will be replaced by a frabricated version once I have found some light weight pulleys.

If you decide to let those pulleys go if you change them, (you're in the UK?),any chance I could have first shout on those? Trying to build up my collection of flat belt kit for the future lineshaft system, plus most of my stuff is flat belt drive.

Nice machine. Up until recently I had a Warwick, (I still have access to it to use it if needed, once he sets it up), which is pretty much the same machine. Only reason I let go of it was that I decided to dedicate my time to getting the larger machines sorted instead of going over it and fettling that one, plus I really needed to make some space. :D Made no end of bits with it whilst it was here though. They can be a bit of a nerve tester with things like parting off, but they're decent machines.

Cheers. :) One thing I found was well worth making for that lathe, (it was the first thing I made with & for mine when I originally got it set up), are some headstock oilers. I just made mine out of some brass fittings, and the caps were made from some 10mm brass bolt heads. Saves having to oil the headstock as frequently. These were them fitted:

The bit on the left is what they were made from.

They were made as a snug push fit, and had a bit of paraffin lamp wick in the bottom hole to slow the flow somewhat. They worked well.

Picked up a Raglan Loughbrough Training Lathe last night. It was listed as a rusty lathe in the local ads for £30.

The pic below is after an hr or so work with a power washers and wire brush. All bits not move freely.

I'll probably end up keeping it

Alright, here's mine.....

1941 vintage ex-Navy 14x30 Monarch, and 1966 vintage EE.

These are 'left-overs' actually, from the pre-CNC era, which I had an interest in a small machine business. When that business was shut down, I kept these little ones as 'home hobby shop' equipment. They still run well, and will reliably hold reasonable commercial tolerance levels.

cheers

Photos, if the link works......

I picked mine up for $600 a few years ago.
Craftsman/Atlas 12x36, and came with a lot of tooling as well:

I use the heck out of it. It is amazing how many things "need a lathe" when you have a lathe.

I'm in the cheap seats. Got the Logan 2557V variable speed 12"x35" lathe and Index Super 55 mill for $2k. The lathe had a few boxes of tooling but nothing for the mill. The lathe motor had already been replaced with a new single phase, 115/230 volt.
