I hard wired our Forward 14k four poster in today. Still need to make up something for the air release. The lift is so stout it'll hold 2 cars at one time. I also put together our 8gl oil drain (Lisle 11102). Anyone have some shots of how they plumbed in their air release lines or even better their air release cans installed on their lift? Greatly appreciated..

LOL.... Golf carts with a roof and doors... There is a video from the crash tests showing a MB S-type punting a smart car... The Smart Car survives but I would not want to be the contents...

I've normally found that I don't want to be the contents of ANY car in an accident. I stopped being a puss a long time ago. I've got a car with 450+hp and wood floorboards - the rest is sheet metal around wood too. Scary to think the "what if" factor. For the armchair engineers concerning the safety of the little car - 50k sold in the US over 3 years and 4 deaths total = well under the average car fatality and surprisingly safe. Cracked me up once when I had a dude on a motorcycle comment about safety.

My humble Schnap-On portable mid-rise lift.

I don't own the garage, so no hole-drilling for Max-Jax. This is the best solution for a renter of modest means.

Can't do transmissions with it even though it's an open-deck, so I've set up the ramps so they can be removed, then I lower the car onto tall jack stands, then I put the lift on two HF 1000 lb dollies and roll it out from underneath. Pretty slick, if I do say so myself.

Here is my Mid-rise scissor lift...
It was manufactured by Ringparts in Denmark in early 1983...

It was intended to be used in autobody shops and has the ability to tilt the vehicle forward or backward for more clearance... It is also semi portable, it has 2 center mounted wheels and a long control arm that allows it to be slid under cars in a more open shop...
My humble garage is short on space and abundant in stuff so this is what would fit...

The lift came in and it took us (me and my 11 yr old son) less than a day to unpack and put it together.

Lifts nicely, and will do a great job for us. PS after lots of research we decided to go for the Pro-Park 8+ with jack.

Curious: how many folks re-check torque of mounting bolts? Probably irrelevant in a four post, but on a two post with fore-and-aft movement, I can imagine some loosening. On the single post I just installed, bolts were _much_ looser after a week, so I retorqued. Obviously much more strain on those bolts but still it made me wonder...

Was thinking of getting one of these, would be a similar setup to what brentcool has, just a small house garage but I have a lot more roof clearance. Was wondering, these bolt in the ground, right? As in, I bolt it to the cement? How does that work?

I just re-torqued mine over the past weekend. My manaul states to re-torque every six months. Mine were still fairly tight, they all moved but very little.

Funny you should say that. I discovered the ultimate use for the Smart Car at Watkins Glen a few mos back: When you trailer your raceteam to an event you don't want to decouple the Kenworth from the 52' trailer to drive to your room at the Seneca lodge. So you tuck a pair of these in behind the racecars. They make great substitutes for pit carts in the paddock, but street legal when you head for the hotel. In this case, they were painted the same Brumos colors as the Porsches. Very cool.

I have many constrains working against me (power, ceiling height, space) but want something better and safer than the jack stand deal.

I used to own one, excellent company to work with, but I was not very confident in the lift.
A lot of noises when you are under it. I eventually sold mine and bought a 10000LBS, 2 post lift.

A good decision. At the time of purchase I only had 8 foot ceilings, had to cut two holes through the ceiling to get the post up. Any way, in the end that was a better way to go.

I did finally buy another house with a two car garage, added another 3 car garage with 16 foot ceiling.
I am the luckiest guy on the planet 5 total bays and my parents were first cousins. A beautiful thing.

Here is mine. It is a Worth rated at 7K. I bought it second hand a couple of years ago. It is a custom height model that that ended up clearing the 3rd stall of my garage ceiling by 1.5"

I had it moved and installed by a couple of guys who have experieince installing these. The only thing I would have done differently is it have it placed about 1 foot back from where it is now.

It gets used for all kinds of service work on my "Fleet" and also allows storage under it.

Future projects are a coat of paint and also raising the tracks for the door in that stall.

Mine is a 9,000 lb two post overhead asymmetrical lift. The company logo on the lift is Chassis liner. I was not able to locate a manual for this model on the chassis liner web site. I found that the Greg Smith Master series XL-9 dimensions and manual fit this lift perfectly.

I moved into this new home about two and a half years ago with the intention of getting a lift but life has always gotten in the way of being able to purchase a lift. I got the lift from a good friend who was closing down his business shop, and wanted me to install this lift in my home shop, so he would have access to it. The lift required new hydraulic hoses and anchors. I also had to upgrade the electrical from 110 voltage to include 220 as well. This is now done and I used the lift yesterday to change the oil on my daughter’s car and rotate the tires. I’m really pleased with the addition of the new tool.

Back in 2008, I purchased this lift for $600. It is a 1999 Target somethingorother with a 9,000 lb capacity. I called up Target and they sent me two equalization cables for around $150. I told them I was repainting it, so they also send me a pack of logo decals and safety stickers.

I spent a Saturday afternoon with a friend sanding all the parts down with a DA sander. I primed with rustoleum industrial hard-hat primer, then rolled on two coats of their gloss black industrial enamel with a foam roller. I sprayed the lift arms with safety red. Turned out awesome! I have about $800 into it and a bit of labor. Works perfect!

My next lift will be from Target. Made in Texas, HEAVY build and well made. None of this shady overseas stuff for me. Their prices are great, too. Check out their page...

Here is mine. Used pretty much just for car storage, so it only goes up/down about 6 times a year. The thing that is a bit unsual is that it is on the 3rd floor of a condo building downtown chicago.

The ceiling is just over 10 feet, so half o the equation always needs to be a little car.

Hello, Ed. I read somewhere that, to keep the clutter down, one shouldn't have too many colors, so I removed the large stickers and have the columns and arms in red to match the tool cabinets and bench. Here is another view (posted earlier in another thread, so my apologies for the double posting).
