Here is a picture of mine right after install. Modifing the roof trusses was the hardest part.

So who got drunk and grabbed the can of black paint to label the walls?
Ha! The walls (and ceiling) are not in the best of condition - I planned to repaint the entire shop but I think it would be better to just remove all of the old (and somewhat moldy) drywall and start fresh. Since I knew the drywall will eventually come down, I occasionally use the drywall as a 'notepad' of sorts... and sometimes go overboard :)

Despite thinking I had it figured out, I did a few things really wrong... And a few things pretty well... I wouldn't buy an asymmetrical again, that much is for sure. I also am sorry I didn't get a really good 4 post with center sled. Because of the radiant tubing in the floor, I was stuck with the post locations, should have been 18" to the left.

Can I ask why not on the asymmetrical? Did you get the trumetric arms? I am shopping and plan to lift trucks and corvettes, I like the idea of being able to open the doors so I thought the angled lift with the trumetric arms in 10K would be perfect... teach me ol wise one... I also would like to be able to lift body off frame for resto so I think the 4 post is very limiting and expensive when you start having to buy the carriage jacks and such. Why the change of heart?
Thanks

Hi, just joined the Forum and thought I would post pics of my lift. The garage was built with the lift installation in mind. It is a Bend Pak Single Post lift PL-6SPX (11 feet tall). I could only build a 1 and 1/2 car garage because of the lot size so I picked the Bend Pak Single Post lift so I would be able to fit two cars in and still be able to work on one comfortably. The picture below is when I first had it installed back in 2005.

.... Summer 2005 002.jpg

These pictures are from today. First with nothing on it and then with a car on top and underneath it. It is a little cramped when I put all three cars inside! Not bad for a 1 and a 1/2 car garage.

Hello pards!

On Page 26 you can see my in-floor lifting table that I use for my motorcycles and other stuff.

But I also have an old 2-post lift manufactured by Stenhoj. When I builded my garage I decided to not have anything between the posts on the ground, It should be completely free space there. But I couldent recist to buy this one that hade been used in a high school for mechanics, It is like new!
The pricetag was exactely 337.00 dollars..... It went home so now I have a frame between the posts but i can live with that :)
I use it most för my sidecars, to do mechanical jobs and even to use it as a parking lift ;-) You have to excuise my not so good English.....

Last place I lived had a tandem garage layout, and an Eagle floorplate 2-post had only about 11" per side to spare. The ceiling height was 9'3" so the columns protruded about 1" to 1-1/2" into the space through the sheetrock/joist cavity.

Working primarily on sportscars, I could get enough height under the car to stand erect for most jobs (I'm 5'8"). When I put an X5 on that lift, I could get the hubs about waist-high before the ceiling threatened harm to the vehicle's roof.**

** I shot a photo-beam across the top of the car to a reflector__front to rear__that dropped out a contactor breaking the 220 VAC to the pump's motor if the beam was blocked (you still need a manual override button in the circuit, so the pump can be energized enough to release the safety stops).

You have no idea how excited I am to see these pictures. The timing couldn't be better. I'm ordering my Atlas garage pro 8000 Ext today! I'll also be getting two bridge jacks. And I'm really debating/considering the aluminum ramps upgrade. How heavy and awkward are those ramps? Are you happy with the lift? Any problems?

I have to tear mine down next week after servicing all our vehicles. Going to be a while before it is back upright again in its new home.:(

Here is my scissors lift...I have limited space in the 2 car garage side to side and limited height at 9 ft. I went with the scissors and have been able to do everything I need so far. Mostly maintenance and repairs. No rebuilding.

Also note the lift for the SL500 hardtop (can just see hardtop over BMW). They are swapped from their normal parking places.

This is my first post but have been lurking and getting ideas for new garage when we move North to La Conner, WA in a few months.

Cheers!

I'll take a better picture and post it later, but here's the first shot of the car on the hoist:267aa3e800ac8d3b02146ede7fb44668.jpg

After picking up!
IMG_2205.jpg

Waiting to be installed.
IMG_2213.jpg

Right not I have them mounted, just need to buy some hydraulic fittings and some extra hose to mount the motor in a good spot and I will be ready! I'll post again once operational. Then will need to clean up some wiring and everything where it needs to be.

I know what you mean about the movement while torqueing stuff. Just put up a rotary spoa9k. My buddy spent a little money on the tall stands from HF and he is very pleased. I guess that is my next investment. You can make the dually quit moving around with one on the receiver and two up front.

Had this one installed by DMS Equipment out of Springfield MO:

That's a nice looking lift. I'm interested to hear how well you like it after having it for some time now. I'm currently considering the DMS Equipment FP8000XLT lift and would like some first hand feedback from an end user. I did a search here and your post was the only one I could find referencing a DMS Equipment lift.

Nice lift, HD FLHX. It looks very similar to the DMS Equipment lift I asked about in the post above yours.

What is the minimum drive over clearance of your bridge jack?

I have had this for a year now.... no problems. I would purchase again. Thanks for asking.

you guys with race deck flooring and 4 post lifts, are you setting the lift bases right on top of the race deck, or cutting out the race deck to set the lift directly on the concrete floor? The pics I've seen looks like most are setting them right on top, but hard to see exactly.

Looking to pick up a 4 post soon for my garage and I've got race deck tiles.

Trim around the feet and have them directly on the concrete or shims if needed. The floor tiles are not strong enough for the pressure from the legs.

Incorrect. 90% of people put the hoists on the floor. Just make sure you set the hoist on the floor in the middle of a hot day.
