Here's our Stinger lift, kinda hard to see when it's up in these pictures. I opened up the ceiling in the garage and it fit up in there. This is in our old house, now it's much better in a pole barn with 12' ceilings!

Question for you guys with lifts.

for the 4 posts owners
Is it harder to work under the car because of the ramps?

And for the 2 post owners,
can you park a car on it for a long term ? lets say for a winter?
sorry if I'm off topic a bit but since theres both of you guys on this thread I could use the info.

By the way I'm leaning toward a 2 post Mowhak lift in a near future.
A bit expensivee tho compared to some 4 posts I saw.

My 2 cents worth:

a) I wanted a 4 post lift for stability and safety

b) I feel comfortable leaving a vehicle on my 4 post lift during the winter months due to the extra stability

c) The ramps / platforms do provide some restrictions to easy access to parts of the suspension, but for me the above two items outweigh this criteria

d) Also, a 4 post lift, if supplied with wheels, would permit transport/movement of the lift to other locations within your garage.

Hope that gives you some input.

Everyone has an opinion, but 2 posts are fine for storage except the suspension is often unloaded. I like a 2 post for work, so much these days is wheel related, so easy to get around.

Yes it does thanks.
Its just I never worked on a car with ramps in the way. I know I'll need some smaller lifts to get the wheels off the car.

I dont think unloading the suspension is not that big of a deal, I'll park a car (wifes Mustang for the winter) on it but often I'll have to get it off so I can work on my car pretty much every week ends.

Hey 930,
I see a few other lifts, besides the BendPak's, from your previous post. What brands are they and what's your opinion of them?

Sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread here.
Thanks for the info 930 and your opinion on the Dannmar. I contacted Bend Pak and you can custom order their lifts in other colors for an additional fee. Now, how hard would it be to keep a Speed Yellow lift clean? ;-}

Well...here are mine.

Spent last Sunday pressure washing the floor, etc...and happened to take a few cell phone pics before putting the cars back. I wasn't taking pics of anything in particular....except my cleaned up garage.

Old car guy and sberry, I am looking into a two post lift and i see you both have the mohawk lift, I like what I see, but what are your opinions on them are they worth the extra money? Im willing to pay more for a better product, but I have not been able to see one in action hands on. Thanks in advance!!

Here's mine. Perfect Park 7000. I have the polished aluminum ramps, drip trays and wheel kit for the lift. '34 Ford Coupe on top and '55 T-bird under.

Both a Rotary 12,000 lb and a Bendpak 14,000 lb lift. Both extra long runways and the Bendpak is a tall lift.

totally worthless in my opinion. in the way when not in use and you still have to lay on your back.

Supposedly it lays flat when not in use and you can drive on it to park. I agree its not ideal but I had a truck come off jack stands a few weeks ago and scared the heck out of me. I need a better solution and a 2 post or 4 post will not work for me.

I worked a little for a tuner that originally started as a retail location. They had garage space but had a height restriction and were not allowed to install any kind of lift. Their solution was a Kwik Lift and it came in really handy. Easier than jacking up the car and putting stands under it. If you have to get the wheels off you can still put a small jack on the ramp like you would have to do with a 4 post lift. Plenty of space to get a creeper under there and work comfortably. I found that if I worked without a creeper I had to really stretch to reach further into the car and get leverage. The ramps are far enough apart to get a hoist between them to pull an engine which we often did cause it's the easiest way to upgrade turbos on the older Audi S4s. And if you have to do exhaust work just back the car up the ramp and you don't even need to lift it up.

Race Ramps also has a drive on ramp similar to the Kwik Lift. I prefer the Kwik Lift. If you have a place where you just can't get a normal lift it's a very good solution. And it's not all that heavy to move out of the way if you have to. Set it up for the weekend and take it down after your done.

Wheeltronic is a division of Snap-on. You can check out the web site Snap-On Canada or you can call them at 905-826-8600 and tell them your problem. Good luck

All these nice setups...

Mine's an Australian Molnar brand hoist. Aussie produced from locally sourced BHP steel and CNG motor. For me over here, probably on par with your Mowhawk. :headscrat

I haven't got any pics of it at home yet, but this is the pic of it in its first home, a wreckers, who had it for 10 years. The exact same lift is still sold by Molnar today at $7K AUD plus install. Being a wreckers, this one would have been lucky to have been used 2-3 times a week rather than a service workshop, being used 3-4 times a day. Bought, transported & installed for under $2.5K AUD, including change of motor from 3 phase to single.

Would have liked a clear floor model, but the roof rafter's 6" too low!!

Here's mine, a used one from a dealership that was closing it's doors. I believe it's called a Benwil. Never heard of them, but the dealership had a bunch of them, so I figured they can't be too bad!

This garage has been up for about a year and half. The lift is a Challenger model number 39000. It's rated at 9,000 lbs. Bought it from a guy who sells and installs all kinds of shop equipment. I just got the garage up and it wasnt 2 weeks before i had it bought and i installed it myself. Bought it for 1500 dollars,,,works like a champ! Biggest truck I've had on it is a crew cab 1 ton dually. Dont want anything bigger! The one picture shows the jack shaft style garage door opener. No clearance issues with this type of set up. The guy in the pic is not me,,,,he's my brother-in-law looking at his truck,,,he sure likes my lift!!
